tinuod man sad. copycat man gyud ning mga pinoy. tan-awa lang na sa ASAP ug SOP, mga copycat kaayo. from dancing to singing... copycat... walay ORIGINALITY.

    i'm on FREDDIE's side.
Oh yeah i missed that part.. "What monkeys see, monkeys do..." My bad.. Yes those variety shows make me puke. Labaw to the ppl who adore cheezy entertainment. Thats a problem when the so-called "artist" compromises his work/talent (if having a nice face is already considered one to the eyes of some gay talent manager) to the audience. Ang result, mediocrity. I also noticed some american shows doing this and its not a pretty picture. Ni cater ra jud sila sa massa and thats business philosophy not artistry.

Although there are some classic filipino movies that i enjoy watching. Man they kick butt. We used to make good quality films back then & they were unpredictable. Its proof we have great talent but it seems everything is modeled to western standards now. Its the "IN" thang.

    I second that, Chad_Tukes

Why are you proud of Arnel Pineda and Charice? I disagree with Ka Freddie about Gary V. though, even artists here in the US admit that somehow they are influenced by Michael Jackson, Gary has a unique sound but his dancing is influenced by Michael. However, Arnel Pineda? My God! Nothing but a wannabe Steve Perry. Proud siya nga sakay siya sa kasikat sa Journey nga hinaguan nilang Steve Perry ug iyang band? Pakauwaw lang! Nakakahiya! We shouldn't pay attention to our singers who are nothing but imitators.

Originality sells, mao nay concept sa America. Kadungog ba diay mo ug lain nga singer nga sikat who sounds exactly like Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston? You have to have your own sound, make that sound your own, to sell and be respected as an artist here. Mao nang magmugna na sila ug singing style like Britney. Before na sila morecord ug song, first nila nga task is to find their own sound.

Pinoys have to grow up. Agree ko ni Ka Freddie. People have to grow up. Arnel Pineda? PWE! imitator rang daku. ASAP, SOP? Sus, wa gyuy Pinoy signature. Mura tang brown ppl trying to sound and sing like foreign artists! Tan-aw pa mo ug variety shows sa Vietnam di ba kita ka'g Vietnamese original costumes and songs! Wa gyud tay identity tungod ra pud sa atong mentality nga the more they sound like a foreign artist, the better they are artists.

I'm stunned on how people act in denial on what is happening right now in the music industry, what Freddie said is true and those copycat singers should be ashamed of themselves. And to think that many Filipino's are patronizing this kind of music , really sad.

i'm glad that some of you are on Freddie's side.

nakakahiya talaga---and it's not crab mentality people. mu ana raba dayun mo, "ahhh CRAB MENTALITY napud, pinoy gyud!!" no its not, it's the truth. Filipino artists need to learn how to create their own songs and make an identity for themselves.

tinuod, movies back then are far better than movies nowadays. movies such as those directed by LINO BROCKA, for instance. karon? sus pa TWEETUMS! ahak na lang!!

Freddie was a good friend of my dad. i don't think na frustrate siya sa iyang career; he's always been passionate about music ever since. Freddie is one of the few Filipino artists whose songs are very meaningful and naa gyuy identity. mao nay matawag nato ug LEGEND.

pero karon? kinsa man atong mga artist nga naay identity? gamay na lang kaayo. ang mga nisikat katong mga copycat sama ni SARAH GERONIMO, ERIC SANTOS, ARNEL PINEDA, CHARICE PEMPENGCO, RACHEL ANN GO, etc...

Freddie Aguilar belonged to an era when being patriotic and nationalistic was very strong, so it is but right that he should express those kinds of sentiments being an icon of Filipino music.
However, I believe that it was wrong of him to call Charice, Arnel and Gary as "unggoy" because no one has the right to label people names di ba?
