Islam believes that man was born w/o any sin and he inherited none from his parents.

We are born in a state called fitrah. In our very nature there lies the will to do good or bad. Fitrah in layman definition can be drawn as "our innate human nature and state of dependence to God".


Within Fitrah pulsates the seed of knowledge of the Divine or God(Allah) and Freewill. As we aged in life disturbances both external and internal affects the fitrah.

That is why tasawwuf is recommended. It is the effort of purging the bad tendencies inside of us and struggle(Jihad) for righteousness. The enemy is not the people around us but our own self. We must look inside and make efforts in trying to unleash the dormant divine qualities in us.

Prayer and Worship, as I have learned from Sufi is not for God but for us humans. In times that we are idle, we must pray and worship Allah to keep our selves pure of sin, and keep us away from temptation.. because when we are idle, temptation easily comes into our minds. By far, that is the best purpose I have learned for prayer and worship. Of course, if we are busy with everyday work, prayer and worship is set aside so that we can focus on our duties as responsible beings.
