My GPS is made by Garmin ... as well as pretty much every other commercial GPS product in the US. There are a few other smaller players.

If I drive around, my GPS gives me street by street and turn by turn directions ... I wonder if you can do this in Cebu ... or if the streets haven't been mapped yet. I don't know about Cebu or Manila, but from the website, it looks like Garmin has maps for Singapore and Malaysia. If you look at this and use the MapSource Map Viewer ... select World ...

    Cartography

It doesn't look like Garmin has city maps of Cebu.

i think the best software that you can use here in pinas is something that supports custom maps. the one where you can just scan your map and calibrate it using the given scale.

of course don't expect any turn by turn directions hehehe.
GPS used in US and other countries support turn by turn directions because they get this information from mapping companies like NavTeq or TeleAtlas. I don't think they have any mapping data for Philippines

    check out this guy's blog.
he's doing a prototype GPS navigation software for pinas from scratch

Even though the thread is old, I'd still like to contribute this little info I found...

For those using Garmin Mobile® PC, you can still use the roadguide.ph's standard Philippines GPS Map. You may have to register to see the thread.

Just put gmapsupp.img to your garmin mobile pc directory (i.e. C:\GarminMobilePC). No need to unlock since the map is free.

A more detailed map is available but you have to contribute waypoints, tracks, etc to the forum before you can get it.

For those with notebooks/netbooks with BT, you can just buy an external usb GPS device.
