fiber optic solution s mahal kaayo. laying-out of fiber cable & buying new device is ok jud as long nga i-justify lng jud ang purpose vs the cost.
i-try lng daw basin naa ka unused simple switch with 100mbps duplex speed diha ibutang tunga2 sa 350m to act as bridge...

Just my 2 cents of aquiring an equipment.

Since were talking about fiber swithces, as IT professionals/Managers/Consultants we should be able to evaluate the capabilities of the equipment first before we go on acquiring or recommending, the problem here is that we decide quickly base on cost alone and end up having of the shelves solution like what is on the malls stores are offering.

    Here check this out:

    http://searchdatacenter.techtarget.c...086005,00.html

We have to do a study the requirement carefully wether the requirement is big or mall, consider all concerns so we can defend our recommendation to the bosses, be not afraid to make the recommendation as long as it is acurate, correct and on the scope. Besides its your jobs on the line if it fails.

Whenever your bosses says its expensive fight for it but if he insist follow what he says, but tell him if we do it your way i'll wash hands if it fails.

Price could easyly be justified, it depends on the need of the company.

Emac i like what you said i'll borrow it...

IT Managers should also think like a business man, if you go to your boss ang talk about, 1000 mbps, LC connectors, gigabit connection and things like that, how could your boss understand you (except if your boss is a technical guy), but most of them are not, they talk business language like investment, ROI computation, benefits, benefits and benefits. This are the things that you need to place in your project proposal and submit it to your boss. Ask for a meeting with the excutive to discuss this .. remember there Business is the Network, if it fails wla negosyo... they must understand that.

Just my 2cents hope it helpss..

    SALAMAT

A better solution would be to go fiber, pero mahal
