North Korea is preparing to launch a missile over Pacific Ocean waters, Japanese media reported Thursday.

With missile interceptors and radar equipment deployed in and near Hawaii, "we are in a good position should it become necessary to protect American territory," Gates said Thursday.

Kim is trying to tell the United States that he will soon have the capability to take out US cities in a nuclear strike.

Th US however already has a missile shield to protect US territory. Whether or not the Nokor missile ultimately ends up in US territory, it might be a good idea for the US to shoot it down anyway if only to tell Kim that his missiles are worthless.

i feel bad for the Koreans...really...

its neighbors know that North Korea is a threat to the world, yet at the same time, the last thing that they'd want to see is a re-unified Korea...the Chinese and the Japanese (and even the US) won't tolerate another competitor in the field
