My personal opinion- he should go and retire.Â* Give the others specially the younger ones a chance.Â* There are a lot of pressing problems re Catholic Church right now.Â* We need fresher ideas and priests who are not beholden to politicians.Â* Vidal on many occasions came out openly supporting Erap and that I cannot comprehend. Why can't he and all the priests just stay out of politics? One pressing problem would probably be to concentrate more on bringing people back to church and to practice what they've been preaching.Â*Â* Let's just be honest, sincere and true to ourselves for once.Â* That's why we will never grow and prosper as a nation because of all the hypocrisy.Â* Sad to say- we are the only Catholic country in Asia but are we all practicing ones?Â* We all know the answer to that one!

Cardinal Vidal is a man of prayer - a contemplative, if you may. Discerning the will of God is not new to him. Obedience is his way of life (sounds like Naruto's way of ninja --- oh, the anime fan in me ). I pray that he will be true to his God, and not to himself. Indeed, he is serving God and not his self. I know also that, when the cardinal speak about politics, he speaks on the moral aspect of the issue at hand. It is not about minding the politics. It is about the minding the moral laxity of those in politics.

Love the sinner but not the sin. It is not hypocrisy if such is practiced among Catholics. It is, in fact, a Christian act. Let us be Christian - not just when it is convenient for us but, more so, when it is not.

May the Lord grant the cardinal the grace to accept whatever He commands. Praise be the Lord Jesus Christ!

I just hope lang ang mopuli is a man of prayer like Cardinal Vidal. Kadali ra gyud sa panahon. Way back in 1985 when the late Cardinal Julio Rosales died, nakaingon ko kinsa kahay ila ipuli no nga it seems no one can fill his shoes. And I was quite cynical about Cardinal Vidal then when he assume his post. Murag walay salig.

But in the end, he was more than capable. I have the same hope sa kinsa man nag mopuli niya.
