    Yes, just put the ubuntu cd, installation is very user friendly

    dili ba ni ma-detect sa Ubuntu? ga-Ubuntu man ko. i had crt then switched to LCD. iya ra man na detect.

    make sure your video card is detected and loaded ..

    lspci ... lsmod .. check for nvidia/ati/etc are loaded.

    If you're using Ubuntu, try xresprobe, it outputs xorg.conf configuration where you can put in /etc/X11

    Thanks for the ubuntu tip, I figured how to do this in openSUSE by executing sax2 -r as root, I upgraded my monitor from a 15" to 17" and it worked perfectly fine in openSUSE 11.1 but resolution is not optimized in version 10.2 in my other server.
