I must agree that the constitution should be improved to be at par with the changes in time. The American Constitution was drafted centuries ago and has not changed a bit since it's conception. WHY? Because what it established are the fundamental rights of any American Citizen.... a generic law that applies to the individual, not the period. As such, they have not changed since. This is what we need!
The constitution that was enacted in 1987 was tailor fitted to prevent the ills of government during that time. To that effect, it became a constitution for the period.
What we need is a constitution drafted by intelligent and sincere constitutional delegates who will establish the framework of our society. A generic law that establishes the fundamental rights of a Filipino citizen. Not a
We don't need a constitutional convention of congressmen/congresswomen who have biases and vested interests...
When vested interests (even if it is the interest of a region, represented by a congressman) plays a part in the establishment of a constitution, the output becomes a constitution of the few... what more if it is drafted for the purpose of extending the tenure of the leader...?

Then when? I have heard talk of amending the constitution from the time of Ramos. Back then they said it was too early too.

Have a look at these people who are going on stage opposing charter change. Do they look familiar? Yes! They are presidential hopefulls. They will say and do anything to get some votes (and most of them are senators who stand to loose their places in government).

I mentioned this is my previous post. I dont like how they did about it, but its there. Are we as a peope so powerless that we cant do anything to reign in our leaders? We vote these people into office. We can as easily take it away, the problem is we cant look beyond our short sighted interests to do so.

My point is, why wait? These elected officials wont change as long as we keep on voting the same kind of people into office. Better to get it over now... who knows, the people may decide to use their brains to judge for a change this coming election.

ang atong sistema wala problema, ang mga tawo nga nagpadagan mao dili masaligan. our system works well. it worked well man gani sa mga past presidents before ni marcos. during that time ang pilipinas ang nag-una sa atong mga neighbors sa southeast asia. karon iwit na kaayo ta.

we criticize kung dunay sayop. nisuporta sad baya ta sa gobyerno pero after 8 years mao lang gihapon atong sitwasyon.
