we should blame marcos for our misfortunes. before the marcos era, we were one of the richest in asia. when marcos came, development became stagnant until now.

I can't agree more on you there.
It's just sad to say that the former late Pres. Quezon runs a double-standard life. The first sign of trouble (WWII), she runned straight to the US.
And this is what's happening to most of the Filipinos here. At first sign of trouble, every body leaves the mess in the counrty, only a handful are willed enough to clean it up, pick up the pieces and help the motherland back to its feet again..
I noticed that most Filipinos who are abroad or specifically in the US since this is what were talking about here, would easily, or can easily say I love my country, or I miss living in the Philippines for that matter, BUT (here comes the big "but") why are, or they still continue to live there, why can they just come home and stay! Why are so many tears poured in airports and terminals saying good bye to our love ones just to work in the US! simple answer;life there is good or even better! And If only Mr Manuel Quezon did not deprive us with the good life out there just within our reach before, now forever gone and left us struggling for ourselves! and for sure he had a good life because he work and live there, even his family lives there..and its easiy to say "Ď want autonomy" thats, for me lang ha, pure and simple selfishness! For most politicians until today of course, they want a country for there own, for their own consumption and no super power to check the balance. And you might say "then we are puppets of the americans" so be it, I want to live a better life, I want our poor people, the slums to receive "food stamps"and free medicine, free education, real freedom! And the people of Guam, Hawaii, NO sir, they are not puppets, they are citizens of the United states of America!
Dont you want that?
(please dont think about yourself but our brothers and sisters who wants also to taste the good life!)
hahay mas mu prefer man unta ko ug philippines/pinoy all the way but from what im seeing everyday? 2nd nalang jud ang pag ka nationalistic....
Hala, mas daghan man countries nga independent ug dili part sa U.S. so meaning SELFISH na tanan ila mga leaders? Where's the logic there?
One of the reasons why South Korea has become the economic miracle that it is today is because of the leadership it saw years ago. The leaders instilled a great sense of nationalism and the people responded with national pride and hard work.
Filipinos struggle in that area. That is the problem.
Daghang toyok-toyok. Sayon ra kaayo sabton iyang gisulti. Sus ninyo mga bogo! pareha lang mong QUEZON!!!
bogo?? ok really nice argument, yup you have convinced me
Quezon was president and you call him "bogo"
try running for the position, lets see if you win
everybody has the right to their own opinion
lets not trample on other peoples beliefs though while we express it
lets not demean Quezon because we failed
i'd rather be free as a bird than a dog to somebody else
