To travel in time is to reproduce all conditions for that time.
For example if you want to travel back to the stone age-- you have to duplicate that condition.
How would anybody do that.

The universe is getting hotter.
So it is expected that in the next year, the universe is a bit hotter.
If you travel to the future you have to heat up the universe first.

Can we do that?

That is why I think time travel is impossible.

when you travel to the future the universe will already be hot.

i dont think the universe is getting hotter. it was once very hot at the time of the big bang but is getting colder since the universe is expanding and may ultimately lead to the big freeze.

did anybody considered the time dilation equation(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_dilation)? As we approach speed of light, time gets slower and slower for the traveler with respect to the person not traveling that speed. When we are at the speed of light, the equations becomes infinite (meaning time is now infinite or 1/0?). And beyond the speed of light, time will be imaginary (square root of a negative number)? Do you think if we go beyond the speed of light that we are now actually reversing time?

Time travel has unresolvable paradoxical elements to it; for example, the grandfather contradiction. I find it too logically bothersome, I usually shun any piece of literature which major in time travel genres and themes. Just look at Marvel Comics and all the time travel hubbub.

Yes, hence, the grandfather paradox. Change one bit of circumstance in the past, and the rest is, well.. history. You would have to first overcome philosophical hurdles to even consider time travel.

Yes, i think i've read it somewhere that travelling faster than light we may go back to an earlier time. Too bad the equations cant explain it.. I know light speed is the speed limit (cern experiments show that they were able to speed up particles .99c but couldn't go beyond c no matter how much energy they place) but what if we could break the limit??

Hey, finally i found and read this book by arthur c clarke and stephen baxter: the light of other days (The Light of Other Days - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). It explores the technology of a "time viewer" rather than "time travel". Now this wont contradict anything i think. I wonder if we (the human race) are mature enough to have this technology....?

I have mentioned this in my previous post about seeing the past instead of traveling to it. Hey rodsky, what do you think about this book?

I think "time travel" is more common in movies instead of time viewer because it has more action!
