Now that it's mentioned, the science was indeed very bad. What really bothered me the most was the "main weapon" when it detonated and used. it didn't act what it was supposed to be.

They should all have died immediately.

Anyway, it was the movies so they re-written the behavior of the "main weapon" for more dramatic effects.

Props to J.J. Abrams and co. for doing a magnificent job at pleasing both fans of the series -using a plot device that doesn't make us shout "Canon!Canon!"- and those not familiar to the franchise.

i read the prequel comicbook which cited that Nero's (mining) ship incorporated a lot of tech including Borg.... but a trekkie didnt consider the comicbook as canon yet....

so watsya say about this......
