my take on this is that some bands or band members are afraid to take it simple/ or afraid to take it to the next level. they are afraid to step out of the scene's comfort zone for fear of losing their audience.

para nko basta ipakita lang nimo nga you love what u do and u love what you sing and honest lang jud imo mga songs then u can reach out to the audience pod then the audience can feel it and relate.

sa kato pod about the same production ang mahitabo ana is pressure. ky liek if most bands ana nga production ky experimental (regardless of the genre), then mo try nalang pod mo experiment although dili bagay sa inyo songs. nawala na ang inyo sensitivity sa songs ky na pressure mo nga sawayon if simple ra inyo songs.

on the other hand if most bands pod sa production ky emo or simple lang, then mahadlok pod mo mo experiment for fear nga dili karelate ang mga audience. so ang mahitabo iyou try to keep it simple altough ur song demands extra color and texture.

what i'm trying to say is bands should be sensitive to their own sounds and dli mag paapekto sa pressure.

daghan jud ko nadunggan nga bands nga experimental kunuhay pero bati paminawon ang songs.

then naa pod bands nga simple ra kaayo ang ila treatment sa kanta although the song itself is screaming for more texture.

be sensitive. if the song requires more color and texture so add color and texture. however if the song requires simplicity (e.g 3 plain simple chords lang), then let it be simple and easy

Let the song speaks and not the ego..

I agree!!! sometimes man gud when i jam with some bands...they try to impress the audience with their musical prowess. there are instances na effective cya but sometimes fake na kaau. Ang focus is not anymore with the music but with the technique na ila gi execute. Technique is not music...dats why ma turn off na ko tig jam usahay kay it seems like nagpabilib lang ko sa mga audience. What i like unta is to tell stories mith my songs...wala pa ko naka abot ana na level as a musician. naa pa kos sa pagpabilib...sometimes i feel that my music is so wanting. d pa dyud cya honest.

.. and that's why bilib ko ni Chris Thile (mandolin player of Nickel Creek, Punch Brothers, solo artist) ky even though gitawag na sya ug master sa iya instrumento (he's been considered a living legend already even though he's still in his 20's now) he knows when to play and when not to play. if you listen to the 40 minute opus The Blind Leaving The Blind (divided into 4 tracks on the CD) maka ingon jud ka nga very technical and kanta yet there's plenty of spaces in it
