Red mobile now works for non-3g phones. Try it!
naa pa japon ni?

hehehe
Let me clarify: it will work on a non 3G sim for text and calls. I agree on your post that it is totally impossible to stream video calls on a GSM Network w/o the 3G network. However Red Mobile has recently made system upgrades that allows their sim to work on GSM handsets only.
I know as I am currently using a Red Mobile Sim on Nokia 1200.
@softtouch:
There has been no announcement from Red Mobile on the matter.
I was among the first batch of Red Mobile users. last year, if your load become zero when sending you will get the message sending failed. This April I that if my load becomes zero, I will not get the message sending failed but a text would arrive from Red Mobile that I have zero balance.
As this is a new feature, My curiosity got the better of me and tried to see if they have upgraded their system to allow 2G or GSM phones to use their Red Sim.
I just got lucky that it works. I even tried the same sim on a SE T610 and it would still work to receive calls and send text messages.
