Hackers hack systems not to make richer person themselves, but to publish their acts in order to aware or remind people that their systems is easy to intrude and improve more on their IT security.

That's easy for you to say, because you seem to be a noble person, and not "needy".

When I used to manage a computer lab several years ago, I've personally apprehended students who stole computer time accounts just to increase their own computer time, and brought them to the Student Affairs office. These students got suspended by the university. According to Philippine E-Commerce laws, these students committed criminal offense. Don't tell me these students I apprehended just wanted to "publish their acts in order to remind me, the lab manager that my system is easy to intrude". No, they wanted more computer time for LESS money. It was a plain and simple criminal act.

COMELEC Chairman Melo has already issued a statement with regards to the proposal of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano to give 100M to anyone who can successfully hack the poll automation system of the institution. He said that the proposal is not feasible since hacking per se is a crime punishable under the E-Commerce Law. It is an elementary rule in statutory construction, that if the law does not distinguish, then we must not distinguish. Therefore, even ethical hackers shpuld not be allowed to participate. From the looks of it, this is just a ploy of Sen. Cayetano for him to get media mileage and publicity.

if i am a hacker, i wouldn't risk that kind of exposure. for my opinion, that poll automation system can be hacked and I think that Cayetano knows that it can. will there be a poll automation system next year for the elections. i don't think so. so what's the point?!

Btw, Hello!? who said that I am not a needy person? Syempre, these global crisis situations everyone needs MONEY. Mao bitaw na nga gibuhat na nila aron ma aware ka or mahagit ka nga imong system sayon ra i hack or i intrude diba?

Their point is to improve and strengthen your system aron dili ma usban ug hack imong system. For me I think it is not a plain and simple criminal act, but a call or awaken people to strenghten more in their systems.

The fact that in my posts, I raise a genuine concern regarding this effort by Cayetano, and its effect on the youth culture, still makes it a eligible for the thread.
