I don't even know who Kevin Mitnick is, nor do I care to know. The gist of my post is, money is the deciding factor in most things in this world. A lot of people do stuff for money. Even you.

I bet that person won't refuse 50 Million Pesos.

i think tanan applications/programs can be hacked. na hack man gani ang sa US FBI and other agencies b4 nga grabe na ka sophisticated ang ato pa hnuon. kung naa jud determinado na hacker possible jud na. though dili sad ing ana ka saun pero its still possible. so don't challenge anyone to it ky maybe one day maulawan rka. LESS WORDS LESS MISTAKE CAYETANO!!!

ang trabaho sa cyber forensic group is precisely to test the defense of systems .. pero, way pulos ang gihimo ni cayetano nga manghatag ug 100million kung maka hack sa comelec system .. for one thing, ingon ana na ba siya ka dato nga duna siyay hundreds of millions? mao ni resulta sa mga na elect nga senador tungod lang sa mga inquiries inquiries lang ug dili tungod kay duna silay plataporma inig senador na sila .. am no fan of this guy! and I don't even support the fact nga kinahanglan i televised ang mga inquiries .. pa pogi points lang na sa mga walay-sulod-in-between-their-ears nga mga politiko ..

Cayetano, at a press conference Friday, said that if any IT expert can establish that the system to be used in the 2010 polls is not secure from fraud and tampering, “Comelec should cancel the contract, save the P11 billion and sue for damages the contractor in the event of such successful hacking.”

He said he would rather revert to the manual counting of votes if the computerized system would lead to wholesale cheating.

Cayetano said the resolution, which he would file on Monday, was in response to a statement by a Comelec official challenging cyber security experts to test the system for weaknesses.

“The most effective way to test if indeed a system is credible, reliable and tamper-proof or fraud-proof is to offer a sizable prize to whoever can hack and convincingly show the weaknesses of the system,” Cayetano said in his draft resolution.

“To make the said incentive system work, there is a need to authorize the Commission on Elections to set aside the amount not exceeding P100 million to be utilized as a prize money for the said successful hacker,” he said.

If the system is successfully hacked, the Comelec will then be authorized to cancel the contract and sue the winning bidder.

Despite repeated assurances poll automation will significantly curb cheating, Cayetano said there are fears it might actually induce a “bigger and more sophisticated method of election cheating if the system is vulnerable to manipulation.”

i think i want to disagree. i think that decision is wise and fair. what better way to erase all doubts of the new automated polling system than to make an open challenge to hack it. Given the resolution, it simply means every programmer is given a go signal to hack it without fear of being prosecuted by the law. and if dili man gani cla mgpaila, well they have the opportunity lost. Sorry nlng. besides, kinsa ba gud tawn buang nga cheating politician nga mka sweldo ug programmer w/ 100M if that IT expert can indeed show to the politician he can hack the system for his own political interest come 2010?!?

what better motivational tool than the 100M money! Better lose P100M rather than P11 Billion on a system that may be vulnerable to attack. Not to mention the big time, effort, and cost lost in recalling the elections if the system will be found to be weak. Just imagine.

    Uwahi na rba ang mahay...
