George and Cecil is an upcoming sitcom on ABS-CBN topbilled by engaged couple Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo.

The new show will be aired Sunday nights, and is directed by Joey Reyes who also directed their hit movies, “Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo” and “Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo.” George and Cecil is about a couple who take on unconventional roles. Judy Ann (who plays George) is a policewoman, while Ryan (Cecil, short for Cecilio) manages the house.

CES Drilon’s new show, “I Survived”, started last Thursday after “Bandila” and got good feedback for its efforts to highlight the courage and fighting spirit of Pinoys in the face of danger and seemingly insurmountable odds. The segment on Jeyson Himmayod, a miner trapped by flashfloods in Itogon, Benguet, made use of re-enactments and real footage and is very compelling viewing.

“It shows how the Pinoy spirit can empower you through the most difficult situations,” says Ces who’s a survivor of an infamous kidnapping herself last year. “I will interview people who lived through life-threatening situations like disasters, crime, accidents, risky journerys and even adventures.”

“I Survived” took the place of Gus Abelgas’ “S.O.C.O.” (Scene of the Crime), which is now shown on Fridays.

The 25th Star Awards for Movies won’t be held until May 28 yet (at the Ateneo’s Henry Lee Irwin Theater, to be aired on May 31 by ABS-CBN), but already there’s a guessing game on who will emerge the winners.
Funfare Update will hazard a “fearful” forecast on some of the major categories. Here it is:
• Movie Actress of the Year — Who will win: Sharon Cuneta (for Caregiver, Star Cinema); who should win: Gloria Romero (Fuschia, APT Entertainment);
• Movie Actor of the Year — Who will win: John Lloyd Cruz (A Very Special Love, Star Cinema) or Aga Muhlach (When Love Begins, Star Cinema); who should win: Baron Geisler (Jay, Pasion Para Pelicula Productions);
• Movie Supporting Actress of the Year — Who will win: Sharmaine Buencamino (Ang Lihim ni Antonio, Viva Digital); who should win: Tessie Tomas (100, A Martinez Rivera Film Productions);

Sa item namin kay Gabby Concepcion sa cameo role niya sa movie nina AiAi delas Alas at Sharon Cuneta, nagtanong kami kung hindi ba magkakaproblema ang aktor na lumabas sa Star Cinema movie dahil ang alam namin, may kontrata siya sa GMA Films at dapat, sa nasabing movie outfit ang comeback movie niya.
May nakabasa ng item na yun, tumawag sa amin at ibinalitang hindi magiging isyu sa GMA Films ang guesting ni Gabby sa AiAi-Sharon movie dahil pinawalang-bisa na ng film company ang kontrata ng aktor.
In fact, isinoli ni Gabby ang talent fee niya dapat sa ITALY, kaya puwede na siyang gumawa ng pelikula sa ibang movie company. Ang maganda, walang bad blood sa kanila ni Annette Gozon-Abrogar at who knows, baka matuloy din siyang gumawa ng pelikula sa GMA Films isa sa mga araw na ito?

Marami ang naiinggit sa TV reporter ng ABS-CBN na si Gretchen Pulido dahil sa maraming magagandang dalagang nakilala ng international singer na si Craig David, siya ang natipuhan. Nasulat ni Ricky Lo sa column niya sa Philippine Star na tinamaan si David kay Gretchen nang magkita sa The Embassy at sabay pa raw umuwi.
Nalaman naman namin kay Mario Dumaual na niyaya ni David si Gretchen na sumama o sumunod sa kanya sa Japan ang dalaga. Brokenhearted siguro ang singer dahil hindi siya sinunod ni Gretchen dahil may trabaho siya rito.
Abangan natin ang mga susunod na mangyayari kina David at Gretchen at mukhang patuloy ang kanilang communication. (Baka naman ateng na-misenterpret lang ang pagiging mabait ni Craig dahil alam niyang reporter si Gretchen. Hehehe. - SVA)
