Default Taking A Shot At Water Cooling

    Hi All,

I've decided to give water cooling a shot after hearing/reading all the advantages of putting a system on water. Better temps is first on the list of course, less noise in general, and the all round challenge of getting a system up and running, are what motivated me to do it in the first place.

I have'nt seen a dedicated thread on here on water cooling pc's so my research has been quite extensive on other forums. Googling will give you all the links you need if you are up to reading and deciphering info from the multitude of sites, links and forums.

I will also be posting pics as my build goes, give or take a few weeks to a month or 2. Budget is also something that i have considered as well as availability of parts locally. I found that ordering through online stores is the easiest but of course the landed cost is very pricey. This is why the build will take a little time to complete.

Here is a list of components i will be using:

    Xeon 3110 processor
    Biostar I45 Motherboard
    2x2gb Gskill 1066 RAM
    Gigabyte Odin 800W Power Supply
    Palit 4870 Video Card
    Lamptron FC-2 Fan Controller
    Western Digital Blue 640gb HDD
    Antec 300 Case

    Water Cooling Components:
    D-tek Fusion CPU Waterblock
    Swiftech MCP355 12v DC Pump
    Swiftech MCR220-QP Radiator
    XSPC Acrylic Reservoir
TygonŽ Silver Antimicrobial Tubing 3/8in. ID 1/2in. OD
    Bitspower G 1/4in. 3/8" Silver Stubby Fittings

Here are a few pics i took:

The Antec 300 - i chose this case because it is not very expensive and it has space for 2 120mm fans on the front. This area will house the Swiftech 240 radiator.

The case stripped and some unfinished holes cut out.

Here are some shots of the components.

    The Mobo and Video Card

    Power Supply

    Fan Controller

    Fans

I will be posting more pics later as i go. Please feel free to comment and suggest on things here. I know there are some of you who have experience with this so your input is very welcome. Are there any pitfalls to look out for? general mishaps and duh moments?....post it so everyone can benefit.

Very nice specs as always, love the 4870! :P
There are more gains then risks in water cooling, its just people think WATER>DEAD Computer.
Are you ordering from sidewinder? pc-perform, frozen-cpu?.

I am also probably going to go for water cooling but unsure atm because of the money.

quite big radiator you got there sir.

i believe the cost of this cooling system is also HIGH, not so affordable for most but then this should be an excellent example for those who want to use such system.

Actually not so big compared to the quad rad that are available these days (4x 120mm fans). So you can imagine twice the size of this 1

Mao gyud, i just realized how expensive it is or can be.

dmelsie, bought it sa US. I quite like it kay dili kaayo hayag ang led's I dont think i'de ever need so much wattage/amps for a fan, pero kung imo i-parallel 3-4 fans cguro.

This is simply overkill, based on experience a single triple rad can handle your tri-sli 285 or quadsli GTX w/ a 4.2Ghz i7, or get a dedicated tri-rad for the VGA cards.
