I HAVE BEEN AN AMD USER SINCE WAY BACK 1999 WITH MY FIRST PC BEING AN AMD K62 400MHZ (SOCKET 7) IT IS STILL WORKING TILL NOW BUT SELDOM USED UNLESS MY TWO OTHER AMD SYSTEM (BOTH ATHLONS)GOT PROBLEM...... MY FRIENDS WOULD ASK ME TO ASSEMBLE PCS FOR THEM AND EVEN ASKING THEM TO SWITCH TO AMD TO NO AVAIL ALWAYS SAYING THAT AMD OVERHEATS AND NOT VERY RELIABLE...... AFTER ASSEMBLING THEIR RIG MOSTLY MADE OF P4CELERON 1.8 GIG AND RECENTLY A 2.4 GIG P4 AND COMPARE IT HAND-ON TO MY AMD ATHLON XP +2000.....AND COMPARE THE FINAL PRICE IN THE END....SADLY, THEN THEY REALIZE THEIR MISTAKE....

Buy both if you want to have the best of both worlds.....hehehe

Seriously, for me it's just a matter of personal preference. It's a matter of choosing what would suit our needs. Let's be specific; would I buy an Intel P4 or an Athlon XP? Price/performance-wise, i'd choose Athlon XP over P4. But in terms of overclocking, i'd choose P4 Northwood esp. the newer ones w/ C1 Stepping.

Btw, i both have an Athlon XP & P4 rig. My XP1600+ (AGOIA 0224) is running @ 1.74Ghz while my P4 2.0A (C1 Stepping) is running @ 3Ghz aircooled/default voltage. =)
