Just got the '09 Fortuner 2.7 VVT-i Gas @ Toyota Manila Bay so far very satisfied with it. The ride has improved over the old fortuner (we sold our old fortuner for the new '09).
Yes, the suspension could be softer. But when we add weight (for ex. 2 sacks of rice) the ride is a lot softer. Meaning, it was designed to handle heavier loads than its other compact-suv competitors.
Other things that should've came standard with the '09 fortuner:
*power seat(s)
*5-speed a/t
*spare tire lock
Also, the 2.7 Gas variant is not really a "gas guzzler" as many has speculated. You get the response/power of the vvt-i gas engine with the advantages over diesel.
Fortuner Gas vs. Diesel:
*diesel has dirtier emission
*noisier than gas (will eventually worsen as years pass)
*excessive vibrations especially when it reaches 2years old+
*high maintenance than gas
*better engine response
*warm-ups @ morning not necessary
The only advantage of the diesel (for me) is the very
slightly lower consumption than the gas variant.
We also have the 3.0 4x4 Diesel Hilux so we really have an unbiased comparison between gas and d4d diesel engines.
just my opinion, i'm no automotive expert.
