^^We can say that Nicole only fought for the money. That is if she was indeed raped. Anyhow, the Philippine government, through the prosecution service, helped her all the way. It was only Gabriela and the opportunist politicians who were highlighted because they used the case as a means to promote their anti-US and Junk VFA advocacy. The VFA was declared twice to be constitutional. Its critics used the Smith case to insist on the invalidity of the VFA.
