Theosophy is "religion" but not "a religion". The former in its truest meaning came from greek word relegary meaning to bind back. Or you may wish "a journey going home to the source" or wherevr or whatever it is.. Theosophy is religion since it points the way to self realization; the real home w/c is "the kingdom of truth, love god w/c is w/n you".
But it is not "a religion". the sectarian, with doctrines that claims sole salvation, that disrespect/discount other religion, that anthropomorphise god. Theosophy is non of these,

The Truth is with Jesus Christ ... we dont need to study cosmology nor metaphysics or any relations to in order to be God-Consious, Jesus is Enough. But is better to know this things.

There are lots of contradictory doctrine from Theosophy and Christianity ... why bother my mind of this word of Men wants us to do.

religion is just one window to "hunt" truth & jesus is just one of the many messengers who points to the truth.
One may avail truth in music, poetry,art, in science & of course in nature,

i think esotiric is somehow connected with the mystics... this is a self-centered experience which they themselves have a hard time to explain or narrate their experiences to plain language... once you enter the realm of it you will be awe... heheheh

how the hell are we able to verify if the books we read are authentic or are even useful and will not only add up to our own delusions?

I would like to think that the fruit of religion put into practice is mysticism, mystical experience is the by product, & the books are but inspiration or testimony of few individuals who attained a dew drop of the other shore, so the only way to verify its veracity, is to experiment our own life, if st. teresa of avila made such a mystical claim maybe its true to her but never to non practitioners,
