    Default Cebu City telecommunications/internet infrastructure

I wish to ask the people in the know...this question is brought about by our company's current problems with BayanTel.

Our company has subscribed with Globe (2007) and PLDT (200, and we weren't happy with their service. In mid-2008 we switched to BayanTel, and we have been really enjoying the service, until January this year, when their service started to degrade. Based on servicing conversations we've had with their staff and linesmen, the issue seems related to "infrastructure" (i.e. linya problems).

Our usual package requirements fall under the "small business/internet cafe" type of packages (but we're not an internet cafe), say about 2mbps, allocated for 5-6 workstations.

Now, because of this, our company is seriously considering to move to a new location here in Cebu City, nga maka-ensure that the internet/communication lines in the area, is not part of the "OLD" Cebu City telephone/communications infrastructure.

This made me think nga, our office's location is perhaps the issue here (we're in upper Lahug). Perhaps if our office was situated in areas around Cebu that utilizes "new" infrastructure, rather than the "old" (i.e. old, aging, rotting PLDT telephone lines) infrastructure, then we won't be affected much by downtimes caused by line problems.

My question is, are areas like IT Park or Ayala...is the communications infrastructure in these areas totally new and NOT part of the old infrastructure? And, does being in this new infrastructure guarantee less downtimes and such? Our business requires a solid, stable (not necessarily fast) 24/7 internet connection, because we rely on streaming technology for our services.

Reliable kung gamay ramo ga share sa Internet sa inyong location. Its like a water pipe kung daghan gagamit sa usa ka pipe then mo hinay ang imong ma kuha nga source sa water, mao na concept sa cable connection.

Daghan man mga call centers diha sa IT Park so definitely new infrastructure gi gamit diha. Regarding about the downtime it could be lessen but it depends on the ISP itself.

Thanks! We visited TG Tower at IT Park yesterday, to inquire about office space, and to check out the building, and after what we've seen and testimonials from internet-dependent businesses already operating there, we're keen on moving offices soon.

naa mi sa i2 building, PLDT amo gamit, connected mi sa PLDT mabolo, contento rako sa amo connection

    3Mbps download, 800Kbps upload.

i think most of the call centers there are connected to globe which is neighbore lang nila.

di lang kay globe lang sila ni connect, hasta pod PLDT

    for BPO, redundancy is necessity

Thanks for info bro. Weird jud ning kaso namo with BayanTel kay the service interruptions starts almost exactly at 6pm as if murag naay schedule. I hope moving to IT Park will assure better connectivity for our company.

Yep. And most of it runs on ancient copper lines.

Here's a story from two weeks ago, when we were in constant communication with our provider, due to this crazy 6pm issue. Believe it or not, the tech peeps blamed a nest of ants somewhere in a terminal box in Banilad, as the possible reason for our internet issue...sheesh, I didn't know that ants could tell if it was 6pm already...maybe the worker ants were on their way home to the nest from their jobs, thus causing traffic in the terminal box

Get a connection with a dedicated line from source to destination ... a T1.
