I wish to ask the people in the know...this question is brought about by our company's current problems with BayanTel.
Our company has subscribed with Globe (2007) and PLDT (200, and we weren't happy with their service. In mid-2008 we switched to BayanTel, and we have been really enjoying the service, until January this year, when their service started to degrade. Based on servicing conversations we've had with their staff and linesmen, the issue seems related to "infrastructure" (i.e. linya problems).
Our usual package requirements fall under the "small business/internet cafe" type of packages (but we're not an internet cafe), say about 2mbps, allocated for 5-6 workstations.
Now, because of this, our company is seriously considering to move to a new location here in Cebu City, nga maka-ensure that the internet/communication lines in the area, is not part of the "OLD" Cebu City telephone/communications infrastructure.
This made me think nga, our office's location is perhaps the issue here (we're in upper Lahug). Perhaps if our office was situated in areas around Cebu that utilizes "new" infrastructure, rather than the "old" (i.e. old, aging, rotting PLDT telephone lines) infrastructure, then we won't be affected much by downtimes caused by line problems.
My question is, are areas like IT Park or Ayala...is the communications infrastructure in these areas totally new and NOT part of the old infrastructure? And, does being in this new infrastructure guarantee less downtimes and such? Our business requires a solid, stable (not necessarily fast) 24/7 internet connection, because we rely on streaming technology for our services.
