unlike you i dont share the same optimism for a oneness of all religion. As there are "religions" that may have started from BS. just because its ancient doesnt mean it wasnt started out of whim. Alot of "occultic" stuffs today are really just BS, conspiracy theories. , make up stories, histories gone wild,
written by the talented and bought by the totally bewildered.

In kabahalah the absolute is the Ein Sof, in hindu is brahman, in plotinus The One, in Taoist its the Tao, in Zen the absolute Mind is non-mind, Christianity its the Trinity, et al.

So What? Your opinion regarding how you view religion or whatever it is you believe in was never solicited. We were plainly dispelling doubts using our own measured understanding of buddhism. Just stick to the topic.

i am. i was just explaining the futility of transposing western terms with eastern ones. when you folks attempted qualify religion as that which necessitates a God and thus the question on buddhism.

which you pretty much left out that religion has something to do with transcendence, not just "god."

so i am still sticking to the topic. am i not? Mr. Emano.

Yes, indeed. And you pointing out our flaw was very much appreciated for we have opened up to a better horizon. By then, we can continue our discussion.

Just be wary, there is no need for you to expound a two or three about your personal beliefs regarding oneness of religion or its complete opposite. What is needed here is your enlightening opinion about the topic, and that is what just did.

Oh yes its Ain soph, tnx for that , my memory failed, though i still have to dig my notes regarding the hindus you said as the brahman, cause if i may recall brahma is one of the 3 aspect of the ONE-as Brahma, vishnu, shiva. Isvara is what i can recall as the God of the huindus or maybe the parabrahman.Yes to TAo,zen & the trinity of christians.
Now i agree w/ you that there are a lot of so called religious/spiritual groups that belong to your category of BS. And sad to say using the same ancient titles to sound authentic.
Although my optimism for seeing the oneness (in essence) of every good religion is born out of the confidence that TRUTH/GOD/LOVE is the same from the infantile stage of humanity til now.
What differs is the mode of presentation fitting to the growth of man at a given time & culture.

any concept of "god" viewing from the esoteric angle is always TRANSCENDENTAL, one has to go beyond concept w/n the finite mind. The finite mind can only offer speculations, hence Mahayana buddhism shy away w/ god discussion, not becauser they promote atheism, but because as what you said its "Beyond"(meaning of transcendence to go beyond).
So again most of esoteric groups are approaching "God" in a paradoxical manner, "to know god as unknowable"

The Universe lives in, proceeds from, and will return to, Brahma (Brahmâ)'; for Brahma (neuter), the unmanifested, is that Universe in abscondito, and Brahmâ, the manifested, is the Logos,

THE LIFE OF A GREAT MASTER

    The Life of Buddha
The great spiritual gaint, Gautama Buddha, the historical Buddha, lived in northeast India between 563 and 483 BC. As a bodhisattva he had passed through thousands of existences before coming to the Earth for his ultimate attainment. This last lifetime he began as a son of the King of the Sakya, Suddhodana, who ruled at Kapilavastu on the border of Nepal, and was born in a village called Lumbini into the warrior tribe called the Sakyas (from where he derived the title Sakyamuni, meaning "Sage of the Sakyas").
    Buddha Bless You!

The Buddha says you are suffering right now because you are always holding on to something which does not last!
Correct me if I am wrong!
