James 2 talks about demonstrating faith in 2 ways: towards god, and towards man.
sa ginoo ok na nang faith alone, which is what he requires for salvation .. pero towards man kinahanglan pakita ka ug resulta sa faith, which is works .. tungod na kay dili man makita sa tawo ang heart sa isig katawo. works ra makita sa uban timailhan nga naa tay faith.
Faith causes us to do good works. we are saved to do good works but it isn't the good works that saves us.
ephesians 2:8-10.
that is why you question a guy who claims to be christian yet he didn't hid the word of God in his heart.
mao ana si James na faith without work is dead. in other words, "do you really have faith at all? or are you just pretending to have one?"
The word "Christian" can always be appended to a church's name/doctrine anytime ma katoliko man o dili. There are more than 23,000 Christian denominations today and which among them do you think is the "real deal"?
As for my opinion.. to show your faith you have to show it in your actions. It is like loving a person, when you love someone, you don't just say it, you do something to show it.. Jesus did criticized the pharisees and levites inspite of there know-how of the laws and doctrines, because, they are all preach and no actions.. he even called them "hypocrites".
Jesus also taught us to love and be compassionate. How can we follow that if all we do is have faith without action?
Besides, can we really say who is the "true" Christian and who is "not"? Isn't it just like in the same league with the "God's judgement" stuff? If we think as Christian, isn't it in God's premise already?
the real meaning of the word christian is follower of christ. it isnt about which church or denomination you belong. the first step of being a christian is when you lower your pride and realize how f**cked up you are without Christ and accept Him as your Lord and Saviour with everything you are.
then you make a declaration to the public by baptism. then its up to you which church you think that would help you in your walk with Jesus.
Me, i go to Living Word in Banawa but i also listen to Mark Driscoll's Mars Hill Church service and in school I'm involved in an org called Philippine Student Alliance Lay Movement or PSALM which is a national interschool ministry where we evangelize to the lost and train the believers to become leaders and disciplers.
