kinsa ganahan ug americana/country/bluegrass/folk?

im not talking about CMT type Rascal Flatts country. I'm talking about the alternative side of country/americana like Reckless Kelly, Stoney LaRue, Deer Tick, Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, the everybodyfields and some bluegrass/newgrass like Blue Mountain, Punch Brothers, and Cherryholmes....

Right now here's my Top 20 2008 Album in any order... this is multi-genre and not just country. however most are under the americana envelope

i really like Chris Thile and everything he'd donw from Nickel Creek to his solo stuff to his collaboration with Mike Marshall to his current bluegrass/newgrass/jazz/classical band PUNCH BROTHERS!

also nindot pod ang Cherryholmes besides their music gwapa kaayo ila left handed fiddler. she's only 17 years old though hehehe

o pod si M.Ward but im enjoying some weird folk lately

also check out Jon Foreman's 4 solo EPs; summer,fall,winter, and spring. very different from his work sa switchfoot. these EP's are more of the alt.folk/americana side of him

some called him "sold out" while some says he's the next Garth Brooks and others go far to say he's a fake...

For me i've been a big fan of his music since1999. Everywhere I Go was my introduction to Kenny Chesney. I got a mixtape from a friend where Side A is Greyhoundz first album and Side B is Kenny Chesney's Everywhere I Go. They are really on the opposite pole but somehow its a refreshing tape. Ever since i went on to buy the original tape along with the Greatest Hits 3 years later. (country music was still being sold here at that time and yes i was in high school so it was on tape. Cds if onsale hehehe)

he's best known in the mainstream world as the producer of most pop rock bands like fall out boy, hot hot heat, the academy is...,etc and a pop singer named Pink.

in the indie rock and singer/songwriter scene he's best known as an indiependent singer/songwriter releasing his album independently and as an indie rock band the Let's go Tonites and 1969 with the The Academy Is/ Hillsong United/Tim Hughes guitarist Michael Guy Chislett.

And those who cared enough who are the members of the band in the late 90s might recognized him as the lead vocalist of the one hit wonder band Marvelous 3 with their catchy anthem Freak of the Weak.

But i doubt if many people,especially those fans fo pop rock/punk of Fall Out Boy and others know that Butch is also a lead guitarist of the late 80s early 90s hair metal band SouthGang.

Infact Southgang and Marvelous 3 are the same band minus the lead singer hence butch took over in Marvelous 3.

that's right. post hardcore/metal/screamo/industrial band underoath can now add folk and country to their description. recently they made an album with Preson Philipps, a folk/country worship leader and and i think this is release by underoath's newly formed label (i forgot the name)
