    Default Tor not running

I just received a new lappy here and booted up BT3. I've been installing some of the missing tools BT3 has and im near in completion. What's stopping me right now is that Tor doesn't run at all. I have tried all methods to get a clean installation from downloading the tarballs and packages but then still it doesn't work. This is the log it returns:

    bt ~ # tor
Feb 24 19:51:27.071 [notice] Tor v0.2.0.34 (r18423). This is experimental software. Do not rely on it for strong anonymity. (Running on Linux i686)
Feb 24 19:51:27.071 [notice] Configuration file "/usr/local/etc/tor/torrc" not present, using reasonable defaults.
Feb 24 19:51:27.072 [notice] Initialized libevent version 1.3e using method epoll. Good.
Feb 24 19:51:27.072 [notice] Opening Socks listener on 127.0.0.1:9050

As you can see, I am having the dreaded malloc error and I have no clue how can I fix this one. Also, even if I try to browse with tor enabled, it still won't work. I have also fixed the right config for privoxy but then I didn't touch the firewall.

Anyone there who has a better idea on fixing this one?

What Linux distro are you using?

Could be hardware, could also be software like AppArmor or SELinux not configured correctly.

Hmmm, if its on hardware, where could it possibly be? Since it's saying "malloc", do you think it belongs to the memory?

Software? Maybe. My BT3 installed in default settings, most of the people who installed tor on their systems had no problems.

    Have you tried memory check?

i think bt3 is not a distro it is a tool for testing...you can use it via live cd or virtualbox...i have bt3 inside my ubuntu 8.10 sa virtualbox and everything is ok....
