i have this linksys WRT610N, and wap54g
i like to clarify regarding the positioning the router, can i put the router vertically? or it must be placed horizontally? any diff in the signal between the 2?

For Wireless routers with antennas, it doesnt matter if you set it up horizontal or vertical. thats the purpose of the antennas - for better signal orientation.
For your N-router - its multi-directional. integrated ang antenna, best for line of sight, also more range/coverage than your average a/b/g routers
It does matter. For a better signal avoid microwave ovens, cordless telephones and other wireless equipment.For Wireless routers with antennas, it doesnt matter if you set it up horizontal or vertical. thats the purpose of the antennas - for better signal orientation.
i have a WRT610N, all i can say is, if you want maximum range try placing it in the middle of your home,
Walls and physical barriers will limit the signal and open areas will have max signal, the range of N is very good. G is small compared to N
@L1
based on experience on WRT54G, it would matter if the antenna(s) is not connected. According to Linksys specs, you may set to your desired orientation, (vertical/horizontal) and use the antenna to direct the field of coverage..
But of course if you want to maximize the field of coverage/ broadcast range, you may place the router on the wall so that the antenna and unit is a flat plane. L1 does have a point....
hirit ko guys, unsa na device gamitan anang wrt610n? the 5ghz freq.
icic.. coz i place my N router (upright position) outside (2 walls) after my room, i got no signal or 1 bar only....
bytheway, what will be the best antenna orientation for wap54G? vertical? horizontal?
Basically its an uprgraded version of its old predecessors, Wireless N - routers have better range, better speeds, but inorder to use this features, your computer should also be N compatible, but Wireless N - routers are also backwards compatible, they can also be reconfigured to B/G broadcast signals.
Physical Barriers are one of the downsides of a wireless routers, Concrete walls are most common its hard to say what orientation of the antenna should be, every network is unique in its own perspective, so its basically trial and error, like moving it to a different location and check if the signal gets better. but if your already 2-3 feet away from your router and still your getting no signal or low signal then thats a different story.
Wow same ta ug router pero pang wireless raman ni nako..
avoid ko using wireless networks basin ma opaw kog samot ahehehehhe!
