ha. if it wasn't that important, they can easily remove that award instead of just making "adjustments".

i think the people responsible should be punished, if possible banned from the event. this isn't gradeschool where you can just write "i'm sorry" all over the chalkboard. you were assigned that task, you were paid to perform that task, people trusted your expertise. therefore you are responsible for your actions. if you screw up, then you're screwed.

    just mho.
but unfortunately not in this country thats one thing we should accept, and trust me no matter what they do nothing will change i will bet anything if somebody gets punish or banned...

I also don't think that they are that shallow na they are after the cellphone or incentives since they returned the awards right away. Especially coming from a prominent/very well-off family who can easily afford a thousand high-end cellphones. Timing lang that those organizers messed with a contingent who has very supportive family.

But I believe na tandog ila(Burden's) pride pag complain nila and wala sila gi tagad. Especially black and white kaayo ni daog si Ms. Burden and samot na gi insulto pa sila sa taga globe pagsulti na "Globe chooses the winner", hello, "Texter's choice award" the title speaks for itself on who should select the winner. This is already personal to them, I mean who wouldn't be? Kung imong anak gi away sa silingan, aw makigstorya nagyud ka sa inahan sa nangaway but in the back of your mind, lami-a sumbagon tong nangaway. But this is much more humiliating that children quarreling.

Wouldn't it be better to have the error corrected to the deepest level than just accepting an apology?
Do you want a "Quick & Easy" solution such as a public apology can hide the facts?
If it was just an honest mistake then why are the people in the committee afraid to investigate?
    ...my hunch...na a influential/prominent person maligsan...

The People has the greatest influence in any contest, religion, decision or even the country. If you think that was just a minor prize, think deeper.

    Just my two-cents...
Duh of course its a minor price if i would buy all the loads of globe and hire someone and tell everyone to text our choice then sigurado daog akong manok, gosh this is a beauty contest, contestants are in the hands of the judges so even if someone thinks that the judges are biased but there would be no absolute indication that a judge is biased because a judge is a rational being that he/she decides on what she/he perceives is the winner, so unsaon mana nila pag kiha nga ni apologize na man si bollozos?

Oops, wrong cellphone model for Kim’s prize

    By Chris A. Ligan, Correspondent

A Globe Telecoms Inc. official yesterday said the company “was as much a victim” as Kimberly Therese Burden in last month's erroneous announcement of a minor award of the Miss Cebu pageant for the Globe Texters Choice.

The high-end cellphone offered by the telecom firm as a prize was not the model announced during the Jan. 14 pageant night.

Jerry Yntig, director of external affairs public relations of Globe, said their firm's agreement with the organizers only covered the prize.

He said they agreed to give a Nokia Supernova mobile kit, a visibility USB, and P2,000 cell phone load.

What was announced on stage was a Samsung Omnia, as well as the the wrong text poll winner, Kris Tiffany Janson.

Nevertheless, Yntig said Globe is willing to give Kimberly Burden another Nokia Supernova mobile kit.

Burden, who has vowed to take legal action against pageant organizers, renounced her title as second-runnerup and Texter’s Choice shortly after the contest.

An City Hall investigation by an ad hoc committee ruled there was “inexcusable neglect” in the erroneous announcement of the texter’s poll winner and said apologies should be made by marketing consultant Bruce Bollozos and the Cebu City Tourism Commission

A second round of public apologies were made in local dailies after the probe results came out.

Globe was also asked to explain the lack of proper procedures to ensure accuracy in the text poll.

Yntig yesterday said Globe gave the correct list of winners to the contest organizers.

“But what can we do if we give the right prize and the correct list of winners and the announcer reads the wrong winner and prize?” Yntig asked.

On the SMS system used by Globe in the Globe Texter's Award, he said the system was proven successful in other activities.

Yntig said Globe respects the results of the investigation and the stand of the CCTC on the controversy.

Yntig said steps will be taken to avoid a repeat of the blunder if the Globe Texter's Award is conducted againt in next year's Miss Cebu pageant, although pageant organizers ruled out another text poll.

Yntig said Globe would make sure no announcements of winners and prizes will be made without Globe representatives signing the document with the information to be read by the announcer.

The cellphone is no problem, said Cebu City administrator Francisco Fernandez.

If needed, the city will secure the right model that was promised. he said.

“I assured her we will fulfill what we announced, “ he told Cebu Daily News.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama said he won’t stop the family of Kimberly from filing a case in court.

Rama said he supports the findings of the three-member panel led by Acting Vice Mayor Hilario Davide III and the separate report of the tourism commission on the case.

He said it was the right of the Burden family to seek redress and that a court case would give everyone, including him, a chance to defend theemselves.

“Let them go ahead. When the time has come, all will have a chance to defend, all will have a chance to talk ,including me,” he added.

Cellphone nalang? How low could this case go?

It made their situation go from bad to worst.

Sakto gyud si Mayor, daghan pang mas dakong butang ang pwede ikabusy sa opisyales sa Sugbo.

Malooy intawon sa mga wala'y trabaho, mga pobreng biktima sa krimen ug kagutom...etc.

Kiha kung kiha but it's not worth people's time anymore, not even a newspaper's half-a-page news.

Hope that everything goes well for both camp and that the Burdens can still get out from this pool of humiliation.
