i think medyo wla pa kasabot ang uban about sa UPS ug AVR.

    pasabton nako ang uban ha.

now, UPS is Uninterruptable Power Supply function is to give you back-up power (most brands only offer 15-30 minutes of back-up power since the output is AC, stored in a battery) when there is sudden power supply cut-off.

while, AVR is Automatic Voltage Regulator function is TO REGULATE POWER SURGES(high voltage, low voltage, fluctuations, electricity spikes) and maintain it to a stable and safe power voltage of 220v or 110v depends on the output.

UPS DOES NOT REGULATE electricity and AVR DOES NOT GIVE YOU BACK-UP POWER.

you cannot say UPS is better than AVR or the other way around.. the 2 complements each other and no one is better than the other because they are two different machines with different functions.

    example:

you live in lapu-lapu, power supplier is MECO, known to be very unstable power supplier sahay mag high voltage usahay mag low voltage, so mao ni prime nga enemy sa mga PSU.
so kung mag UPS RA KA, kung mag brown-out you have 15 minutes to save your work especially kung programmer ka nga limtanun ug quicksave. but.. your psu and your whole puter is prone to damage due to unstable power supply.. because you main source (MECO) is already unstable.
so kung mag AVR pud ka, you will get a steady and regulated power, maintained at 220v +-5% depende sa brand... BUT you will not have back-up power kung mag brown-out.. off jud ka diretso.

about complimenting each other.. pwede ka mag ups ug avr.. you connect your ups to the main power source (outlet) and you connect your avr to you ups, so ang supply sa avr gikan sa ups.. it will give you the function of both, back-up power and stable power.
naa pu brand nga 2-in-1 avr and ups.. pero mahal kaau.

    brands:
philippine made brands of avr: panther, zebra, aegis
other brands katong mga sikat kaau.. mga silverstone etc..

    sorry sa OT

dili pwede way gamit ang fuse.. anha mag-agi ang linya sa kuryente.. ang wire nga nag-supply ana gitunga ang pikas mao gipa-agi sa fuse.. ang fuse maoy maguba kung naay mga shortage or too high nga kuryente nga misulod sa avr.. kanang lapas na sa iyang capacity.. mubuto ang fuse as a protection.. murag circuit breaker ba.. pero mobuto lang ciya pero pwede ra ilisan basta same ampere rating lang. pero naay uban avr nga breaker ang gamit e-reset lang nimo.

dili pud mag matter sa fuse or kung gi-unsa pag butang nag fuse anha na magmatter sa coil niya.. tan-awa inyung mga coil unsa kadak-a ang mga bronse...

it just states that it's capable of doing 650W of juice sa imo pc
but it will draw more than 650W off the socket, this is where the efficiency sa imo PSU kicks in...
kung 500W imo UPS nya gamitan nimo ug something that draws 650W masunog gyud imo UPS (fuse lang hehe)

ako wala ko nag AVR o UPS la pa budget for UPS
pero salig ko sa ako silvertone's PSU active PFC
the avr's/ups' label of wattage .. 500 watts, 600 watts or 1k watts is not the rate at which they consume electricity.. IT IS THERE CAPACITY!

so kung imo avr/ups is 500 watts nya imo psu is 600 watts nya wala maunsa imong avr. it means you power consumption is below 500 watts.. pero kanang 600 watts nga label sa imong psu capacity na niya... anha mag-agad ang power consumption sa imong gi-load.

example; naa kay avr nga 700watts

imo gamit puter (cpu+monitor+speaker) 500 watts imong load.. so imong power consumption is only 500 watts.. dili 700 watts..
ibutang ta.. alimout.. puno ka ug electricfan.. gi-plug nmo sa avr.. ang electric fan mostly 60w mga stand fan so 500watts nga puter ug 60watts nga fan.. so 560 ra imo consumo..

yup i agree with handsoff241..u cant compare avr to ups..they compliment each other..f u like ur computer to live longer then use both...a good avr would take off some stress from ur PSU...example...unstable inyong power sa balay den ma stres inyong PSU to maintain a stable power for ur computer..so in the long run mas mo last longer ang dili kaau ma stress...while sa UPS kay if cge ka kalit ug off inyong Computer because of brownout ma guba bya ang hardisk..based on my experience corect me f wrong

AVR ko karon but im planning to buy an UPS. how much does it cost diay?

  9. #29
there are UPS in which naa nasad AVR just look for those kind of UPS nlng.......
im using cheap avr ron para sa mga charger og electric fan
(wala koy salig sa mga cheapo avr kay nigpis kaayo ang mga wires mas ok tong power cord apil sa ako psu kay baga) hehehe
ako pc plug ra ditso sa outlet hasta monitor hehehe so far so good.......
maski pag mo high voltage or low voltage salig ko ani ako psu pyter pa ni hehehe sukad sukad wala paman sad ko ka gub e og psu sa ingani ako set up..... Hec, Silverstone,Coolermaster ako mga psu nagamit
