Nikon D60 or Canon 450D?

Nikon FM10! hehe! joke! 450D tingali.. pero huna-huna-a mau ang brand imong paliton kay once maka-invest naka, gikasal naka anang nga brand... so tanawa if naa ba sa Canon and Nikon ang mga gusto nimo nga lens lineup, etc... Both Canon and Nikon are superb brands. Bisan asa nila kay nindut, pasagdi ng mga tao nga cgeg lalis asay mas nindut. hehe!

Sakto si fritzd.. it would go a long way. As the cliche' goes, "When you buy a DSLR, you're not just buying a camera, you're buying into a system."
Mu invest man sad ka sa lenses in the long run, so better choose your dslr brand daan. Better to test both kung asa mas feel nimu, ergonomics-wise. =)

Both are good but just to compare:

Canon 450D --- Nikon D60:

12 mp --- 10 mp (10% difference)
9 area focus --- 3 area focus
3.5 fps --- 3fps
14 bit image --- 12 bit image
live view --- no live view
CMOS --- CCD
Price (kit): 450D > D60 (approx 6-10K php difference)

The 450D's extra 2MP and .5 fps could bode well for your landscape and sport-mode shooting needs. But then again, the differences aren't that much.

If I were to choose between the two (as my first DSLR), I'd go for the 450D (if D60 vs 450D lang).

well for me

12 mp --- 10 mp (10% difference) < gamay ra ila difference basta more than 10mp approve nana for ad r
9 area focus --- 3 area focus <--- hasselblad H series got only 1 AF point, the important thing about AF
is how well it can focus even in the dark
3.5 fps --- 3fps <--- seems small pero for me its a big difference na every frame counts if ur into sports
or journalism
14 bit image --- 12 bit image <--- seeing the pic quality wala kayu difference ghapon sa dynamic range
live view --- no live view <---- well im not a fan of liveveiw pero it helps a lot if ur a beginner in SLR
CMOS --- CCD <--- for me i still preffer CCD much rich and vibrant ang color sa CCD pero mas less
ang noise sa CMOS plus mas less kaon sa BATT power sa CMOS

Price (kit): 450D > D60 (approx 6-10K php difference) for the price dako gyud difference nila i would rather go sa 450D

ang angay na option ta nimo if mag nikon ka is D80

if local ra ka magshoot most of the time, weigh in that Nikon does not have a service center here. Ipadala pa na ug Manila. If important na nimo get Canon.

thanks a lot for you suggestions guys. i'm really leaning towards the 450D. just want to know whether the price difference bet d60 and 450d is worth it. hehe it's true that nikon doesn't have service centers here. asking around i learned that for nikon cams service warranty lang ang mahatag from the store. anyway, 37K for 450d and 30K dor d60. hmmm... anyway, il update you soon what i'll be getting. the d80 is really way out of my budget na. hehe 43K ang kit. man!

canon lang ang naay sc sa cebu , dunno yet if nikon has sc in manila?

Nikon has a service center in manila. I have my d70s serviced in Columbia Cubao...
their main office is in Del Monte, Quezon City.
