I have read your post and it seems like we have thesame processor. My mobo is Nvidia650i Ultra. At first there is a problem with 45nm compatibility and updating the bios was the solution. Second problem is when i ran it with COD5 at all settings max it will shutdown. The solution is to go to system properties, advance and uncheck automatically restart at system failure. Now at COD5max, it will hang up! hehe! And im also sure the problem is not in the power supply because im using 800w. My VC is 7950GT.

After that, i tried to fix my CPU cooler put some grease and the problem is gone. Since we have the same processor, it is better to check your bios temp threshold and the temp of your cpu itself. More often the cause of shutdown its bec of temp. Try to check also if your mobo is capable at certain high temp since updating your bios can also change the capability of your mobo sometimes. Try to contact the manufacturer of your mobo i know they can help you like what NVIDIA have done to me.

Kasuway nako ani before, dili lang ko sure if mao ba gyud problem. Pero sauna mo kalit og restart akong PC. I found out na ang imong RAM slots if more than 3 ang occupied requires you to increase the memory voltage above the vendor specified operating voltage.

mao ni ako processor karon n haven't encountered any problem so far (kalooy sa GOD)..
4 months nko cge gamit ani nga proc n so far ok jud.

Processor: E8400
Motherboard: MSI G31M
RAM: 2G (Kingston)
PSU: 600W (generic ra ntawn)

Temp range: 35degC~43degC

mga sir natarong kaha ninyog mount ang processor? or nabutangan ba kaha ninyog sakto kadaghanon ang thermal paste in between sa processor ug sa heatsink. overheat ra nang maka restart sa comp. 450w psu is enough, ayaw mo pagkalas kalas ug kurente, kay mahal ang bayad. hehehehehe. and temp sensor sa mobo usahay dili accurate ang reading taka lang na usahay ug basa. kung naa moy infrared thermal reader mas maayo aron makahibalo mo sa sakto nga reading. pero mahal na na nga gadget. mas maayo thermal paste nalang kanang sakto nga amount. ayaw pagsalig anang pakapin sa heatsink. gamay rana mga sir.
