lamat idol poldo,
Q: is it advisable overclocking cpus' without preparing extra cooling system beforehand?
q1: let's say overclock it to the highest possible overclocking?
q2: or only to the minimum overclocking.
with the stock intel heatsink cooler, you're bound by your temps. when you raise the cpu voltage, the temperatures are also raised proportionately. you'll notice this as soon as you try it. now, don't get me wrong, the stock cooler is adequate at stock speeds but not with extremely high clocks.
to put it in simple terms and to use my overclock as an example, i always keep the temp 60c up to 65c at load and at reasonable voltage (1.40 ~ 1.45v), if it goes beyond that, i consider it unsafe. if the cooler cannot keep up with the temperature, then i am bound by the temperature and by no means can't go on further.
this also means that even if i am at the lowest voltage for my processor but my temps are soaring high, i still wouldn't go for it.
