Programmers monthly salary in Cebu based companies

Regarding abroad, I can say that experience and knowledge counts, not graduation.

Graduations or "papers" might be concern on local employment , local business or , job positions on the current company.

Getting a job? Experience!!!!


Scenario:
Let's say, you are the owner of an Sotware business, and have an urgent project

There are two applicants:
1st, 5 years With experience, haven't completed school
2nd, No experience, completed and graudated from school.

Which do you choose?



If you are just getting started with your career, it's better you start from below and experience it. If you have enough knowledge about it, you can proceed to another level. You can even make some adventures in your life like: freelancing, sidelines, hobby stuff. Keep yourself updated, not just relying on one area.

Its good if you graduate and have a degree.....if ever you want senior positions like management as you mature, then at least you have the edge over those "good programmers without diploma".

Anyway, IT right now is very booming, many companies right now are very desperate in getting people. Unlike during our time, we really sell our self cheap just to get the job. Lucky are the new grads. Congrats diay daan sa mga mong graduate karon.

Mostly Production sectors or manufacturing sectors. Some IT companies are affected too but not all. In times in crisis, don't rely on work or job alone. We should do some extra activity like personal business or small business while at home.

Cebu work:

I started 10K. Moved up to 15k after 3moths and then 20k after 6months. (9months total)

Sideline (Netherlands):

I started 25k. Moved up to 35k after 3months, and now 50k constantly due to monthly bonuses after 9months din. I've been juggling 2-3 projects per month with the same deadlines. phew.

Total income: 65-70K / month (depends on the overtime and bonuses)

The problem is, it's still not enough. As a programmer, I still have that urge to learn more and more until there's nothing more to learn. It's a drive to feed my own curiosity.

My suggestion for those who are looking for a job, those who have a job but aren't happy, those who have a job but want more....is STUDY.

Read a lot of books. Just like mentioned before by previous posts of some guy, "programming is self taught". I agree.

If you want to earn more...look for a sideline. There are lots of jobs over the internet. If you get lucky you might get a full time job online like me.

I have two jobs and I work 16 hours a day. boo hoo. But that's ok as long as the pay is right and worth it. Besides, I get to sharpen my skills every single day. And that can't be taken away by anyone.

Skillset:

Some may not agree with this but go for proprietary languages because the job pays bigger than open source languages.

My next target is Networking and Security or Oracle. more books to read for me.

For me it depends on the code, kung mugamit ka ug if statement, then tanan lines na sulod sa if statement will be P10 per line. Pero kung switch aw 20 per line. Nya kung ipacompile sa imo using Dos na then add-up lang ug 2.50 per compile. hehehe joke.

I agree and disagree on this one. Some companies here in Singapore are very much in particular about degrees, they would even ask your former professors and classmates, do a background check on your qualifications, specially if you're still < 2 years of working and just starting out. While working, a masters degree or certifications will put you above the rest.
