What do you mean by exaggeration?
However an Institution/School will advertise Nursing or any course for that matter, it has to be exaggerated in itself to sell, no more, no less.
Satisfaction of ones lifestyle is not preceded by Profession, Culture, Creed, Nationality.
Success can be generated in a day, a month, a year, or several years.
So is Failure.
In General, Work is totally different than a Play.
Nurses has to go through like any other Job in the World, you start down the first step of the ladder.
Its not relevant to talk specific because Nursing profession is a world wide shortage, and just like any economic principle of less supply and high demands generates high paying scale.
For a start, to enroll in nursing course is very expensive, that alone identifies how one can afford, therefore a nursing student by definition is not that poor rather at least a median income family. If you can make it in a foreign land, that alone already makes you rich in experience and knowledge, fortunately these foreign land happens to be well represented by their elected officials to regulate professional salaries, a comvenience that is non existence in the Philippines, therefore, nurses get paid better....way much better.
There are tall trees, while there a shrubs. Some people can achieve as a tall tree others are shrubs, its part of eco system, so is our profession/career.
I dont know how much a secretary earns, but going back to the economic principle of supply and demand, It only takes 2 secretary on a 24 hour shift in a single Unit/Department like a 24 bed capacity, versus 18 nurses, so you do the math.
Working in our homeland is such a drag. Nurses are underpaid..IF you're lucky enough to find a job that is. Maskin magvolunteer for experience, ikaw pa magbayad.
There's still a huge demand for nurses abroad. A LOT of hospitals and other health care companies in US offer up to $20k sign-on bonus. They even give away free gas coupons or fare passes just to get people come for a mere interview.
Daghan siguro nagtake ug nursing expecting nga dali ra makagawas. They probably forgot that it's not that cheap and easy to go abroad! Regarding the sweldo, dako sa kung dako ang sweldo. The thing is, most nurses abroad have to send money to their families in the Philippines, pay up their monthly apartment lease, agency, lawyers, etc. etc. After a couple of years working, it will all get easier as long as you prioritize where your money goes.
Advice: Take AND pass the NCLEX in the Philippines (or at least before going abroad for work) labi na kung wala mo'y kaila and/or dili mo kaayo confident nga makapasar kay daghan ko'g nailhan nga naglisud ug pangitag trabaho kay wala pa kapasar sa NCLEX (some are even honor students and whatnot). There are a few fortunate ones nga naa'y mga koneksyon.. madala-dala ra pud.
Pero prevention is better than cure gyud hehe. Dapat before you took Nursing, especially kung pinugos ra ni mama ug ni papa, you should have had plans A, B, C and so on...on what to do after graduation. Huna-hunaa sa unsa ang sudland. It's not too late to do the research though.
Good luck d.i sa upcoming PNLE results!
The media will publish news that is of interest, it odes not mean of statistics.
The Problem of Employment is not just nurses, its every profession.
what we must be concerned of is how our System of Government can modify and perhaps regulate our Salaries.
School owners are businessman, they will consider the paying consumers, be it a relatives or plain Joe.
Since they will earn money, they will continue unscrupulous practice, No substance teaching, its quantity.
Finally, dont be sorry for nurses, they have far better chance to work worldwide versus any other profession.
The best part in America is their Credit Check Bureau System.
It is a Process where there is a standard score to every individual who has a social security number. Each Score represents your ability to pay thus your leverage to get the amount of loan.
Anybody in America has an equal opportunity to purchase or get a credit/loan base on how good of a creditor you are, thus the Credit Score.
One of the explanation why Americans not just Filipinos are succomb to debt is when after they get a loan in their house, thats when they overspend believing it has to be done to match either the Joneses or the Property in itself. Problem is when you miss a payment, the rest of the creditor has the power to increase your interest rate, that you can not do anything about.
Each 50 American states are well represented by their Senators and congressman, the salaries are regulated base on the standard of lifestyle, therefore, in New York Nurses are paid in accordance to living expenses there ehich it sounds huge versus the one in south Dakota, but at the end of the day, it will come out the same.
unsa man juy typical career path in being a nurse after graduating from college?
ky like in my situation, i graduated 2 yrs ago but im still not practicing my profession although nka.volunteer ko og hosp. (but i have a good-paying and stable job at present.) gnahan ko mularga sa gwas (preferably Australia) and work as nurse but i dnt know what to do.
unsa my 1st step na akong buhaton.? mangita' kog agency, is that d 1st thing to do?
ur replies are greatly appreciated.
i beg to disagree, your stating your point as if you know the real scenario on the countries your mentioning, and the demand.
in singapore, employers prefer PRs and citizens, and nurses are paid lesser than other professionals, not to mention, its very hard to get one, labi na ug wla ka experience
you are stating your point as if it is an easy world to get a job, bai, dont think nga ang usa ka graduate nga way work sa pag ka karon, tapulan na, as mentioned in this thread, to survive as a nurse, you need to have good background, good experience and money. pero unsaon man pagkuha sa good experience if daghang RNs nga maglisud ug sulod sa hospital?
yes, RNs is a good profession, but too much advertisement of this job could lead to a scenario, wherein most nurses, old and new will be redundant due to overcrowding, its a matter of supply and demand pa ghapon. cge ka, kamo ra ghapon maglisud, show the other side of the coin pud, para dli bias.
this is just a periodic cycle as i have mentioned over and over again....sa mga nurses nabilin karon, make the most of your time to look for ways na ma-useful ninyo ang panahon na stagnant ang status sa hiring. conventional gihapon ang way sa hiring ky mo value gihapon sila ug experience bisan gamay ra.
kapoy and makalagot huna-hunaon but muabot ra gyud ang time na mabalik ra ang need sa nurses! remember few years back na halos naa wing sa mga hospitals na i-close nalng ky wa na nurse makawork sa Manila? kato na mga nurses ky naghulat to sila sad ila chance pod but while waiting ngita ug makapractice-san.
i was once in this status ky naabtan ko ug retrogression pod.
