wtf is up with the comparison?

we're all FILIPINOS who speak english using our own local ACCENTS. tagalogs are no better than bisayas when it comes to english---and vice versa. what's important is how you CHOOSE your words to get your message across. people in the US don't care much about accents. kita ra mga pinoy ang conern kaayo sa atong accents, trying hard to sound American... mura tang mga kolokoy.

We have accents but we ought to at least follow proper diction if magtuga tuga naman lang ta ug english. If you pronounce something wrong, accept it. But it doesn't mean they're Tagalogs that they have better diction than Cebuanos. It is more neurological than geographical, given the condition the comparison is between equally educated people.

Tuno is accent while diction is proper pronunciation of a word. Because we are used to our "accent" or "tone" ... our accent, stress, and emphasis can sometimes be conflicting (to the brain) from our native tongue, that's why we sometimes pronounce a word wrong. Our brain processes speech, that's why I say it is more neurological than geographical. Although if your native tongue... like "bisaya" uses hard stress on intonation and emphasis on words, speech ability through the brain can sometimes mistake the other for the other, it is a small factor. The biggest factor is practice ... this is key to becoming a good communicator using a foreign language such as English. If you don't speak English on a regular basis, the brain is less practiced, and that results to pronunciation mistakes.

Most words pronounced wrong are the words ending with "ion".

basta work ko before call center, moingon na taga US, "Are you from California?" Ako sad pala-palahan na I'm part of an international company and I'm takin' this call from Cebu, Philippines. Amazed man sila.

Dili ra ako ha, most of my teammates before kay mangutana gyud daw ang clients nila if taga California ba daw sila.

Basta, i would say magaling tayong mga cebuano mag english!
