i'd go for 4870..hands down... x2 cards would only mean bigger power usage... well, if power isn't a factor... 4870x2 would be viable

I'd suggest a buying strategy like
Buy first a single 4870 then purchase another one later.

Crap.. I should've waited. Your price is like 1k less than the one I got from PCQB.

BTW, I really *hate* that shop.. the attendants are either clueless or just plain unfriendly.. but I couldn't wait (hahaha). When I asked for the 4850 (the one on display), the idiot held it by the PCI-E connector edges!!!! I immediately asked for something else, thankfully they had one more in stock at the back.

So far the new video card's pretty nice. Palit's cooling solution really rocks.. I'm idling at 44 degrees, while I heard from others that the 4850 is a space heater.
