technically, the 2 might be separate entities BUT if the landowner, which i believe is the province will ultimately find that either high school or college is not serving the masses well therefore both entities cannot justify their purpose then both entities might be scrapped altogether.

if the province can have viscom moved in the name of commercial progress, what can stop them from closing or moving UP high and college?

i am not against UP but that is the reality, nothing personal here.

daku naman ang tuition sa UP college... tanan kay bracket 9 naman tingali... 600 per units naman tingali sila.. sa una kay 300 lang... dili mapaclose UP college kay saka man tution fee...

its no longer democratized access for a quality education for the masses....
300% jud ang increase.. kami ang last batch na old tuition ang g-follow.

the tuition fee increase made the whole UP experience ****ed up. the more rich people go there. I got nothing against the rich but unta they should live up to the UP life.

i'll level with you, if it should not be closed down for the less fortunate, then it should be moved somewhere else because if they cannot offer more sections for high school or more courses for college, then they have no business occupying the lot they are using.
the whole place is very well used by the university. it wouldn't be the University of the Philippines, if it's small. it's not just also for school purposes, it's open to the public for use.

and each campus has its own programs offered to its students.

neither of the two should be closed down.

what province owns the lot of UP Cebu? it's the Philippine government that owns. Cebu province is under the Philippines.

who said it doesn't serve the masses well? other people even use the campus for public services and even for other schools that tie up with UP for activities.

UP is a school and not a money generating establishment. the college is serving it's purpose very well, not only in producing competent graduates but also in research as well. UP professors are even tapped by the government and private firms regularly for researches.

when i was still in UP way back, one of my professors have mentioned that the lot occupied by the people at camputhaw is a UP lot, even those at the back of the dorm. we might consider first on getting rid of these squatters rather than closing UP down, that is a big piece of land.
