I miss writing.
guys i have this idea for local writers/poets/artists, hope musupport mo, it is to promote art/literature in cebu hehe, its not something big, it cam out of my mind one day and thought maybe some people might want to share it.https://www.istorya.net/forums/arts-a...-the-arts.html
i was so mad... some people with "positions" in school said our literary portfolio was irrelevant. that's not supposed to be surprising, they always question our efforts to encourage the young to write.
There is bound to be some opposition jud laban sa mga literary efforts, di lang mula sa mga schools pati rin sa family kesho raw impraktikal ito sa atong nasod kay Filipinos are not a book-reading people. When we do read books, we'd prefer those which are often of foreign-make.
Sometimes it is often a lack of information that create such opposition. Maybe your school and those in positions have the right information, they would not see literary portfolios to be irrelevant.
The Philippine government have been supporting local arts and culture. The National Commission on Culture and Arts have many programs and grants that aim to protect the interests and efforts of our local writers. Maybe you could enhance your school's literary portfolio with articles such as this to give weight to the necessity of your school's support in the Arts.
Aristotle once said that "The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance." I take that through Art, through Literature, we grasp that everything can have value.![]()

Well, actually, I was getting used to their reception towards our “advocacies”. They had always been like that every time we organize activities that relate to writing. They did not even like the idea that we invited a national paper columnist over for a talk…but became very proud of us when the man published us in his column (coz their names were there too). I’m not gonna make them understand because that will never happen. I’ll just make them realize though that this writing that they call irrelevant has its purpose more than publicity. Hehehe..carried away kaayo si annapeace uy.
i want to join a writing club in cebu like bathalad.. but how?
thanks ana.. i'll see.. excited nako dah.. back to writing nako kay daghan naman ko time mobasa so therefore daghan napd ko time magwrite.. weeee
Go for it, sha. Ako musuporta jud ko sa mga writers who feel that their literature lies in the local Bisayan language, like annapeace and others.
Myself, I am not confident and competent with my grasp of Bisaya/Cebuano~ pero that doesn't mean I don't value its beauty and uniqueness of its words and expressions. I do not wish the language dies out in a century or so, kaya we need more writers, more stories, more poems, to keep feeding Bisaya and make it strong to withstand time.
For language is a living thing, and it can be immortal through drinking from the Fountain of Eternal Life that springs from our minds and hearts as writers.
