Probably because they shouldn't be getting credit for giving next to nothing. No wonder you think your cult should be taxed.Anyway, even if my church is one of the oldest christian group in the country it is not fun of hugging the spotlight. They know their role in the society, which is the spiritual part. We don't care if we get the credit or not.
Other religious institutions, however, assist the government to the extent that they are practically doing the government's job. If you were really interested in fairness, then the government should pay them back instead of taxing them. Your thinking is not even medieval, it's stone age.
But the Catholic Church and some other religious institutions don't even ask to get paid back. But they ask for a lesser form of fairness so they can continue to serve; which means they should NOT be taxed.
