i heard the catholic church holds a document signed by rizal that he is denouncing freemasonry or being a member of it..
its said that he signed the document while he was prisoned in intramuros right before his execution.. but freemasonry denies that.. who knows.. hehe..

My dad mentioned this to me one time. That he did signed a document to relinquish his participation and his membership to the katipunan but he never agreed to or signed a statement saying that he denounced his freemasonry. That's why he was executed.

whats in history books, i dont know if i remember it clearly, is that he did sign the document/manifesto to denounce Bonifacio's katipunan(at that time), which right from the beginning he was really against it(armed struggle, and so bonifacio called him a coward) anyway. But the spanish authorities did not publish the "manifesto".. then why would they force/let rizal sign something that they would not publish anyway?
    who knows.. hehe..
its said that it was his old professors, the jesuit fathers who obtained the said retraction..
