    note:
What they do: A pair of Network splitters will enable you to utilize a single Cat 5E cable run (which would ordinarily only handle a single 10/100 Base Ethernet connection) for two 10/100 Base Ethernet connections for two computers to connect onto the network. Please note that this will require an extra Hub/Switch or Router port and two additional patch cables.

What they Don't do: The Network Splitters will not create a new hub or router port. If you have a 4 Port router and need to get a 5th computer working than these splitters are not for you.

i guess you are referring to VOIP technology (Voice Over Internet Protocol) common to Call Centers in which voice and data is carried on a single medium.

RJ45 is for category 5, cat 5e, cat 6 Unshield Twisted Pair and Shield Twisted Pair.

    RJ11 is for telephone cables.

hapit na mareveal ang secret guys kay adto ko mismo ilang office nagquire. since they are a local hardware distributor sa town i create a design similar to there setup then i ask them what hardware are required and the best thing is HOW TO setup A NETWORK w/ the same design they do. ;p 2 days pa cguro.

Long Range Ethernet is not VOIP. For LRE, IP traffic is carried through voice grade lines. VOIP is voice being carried through data lines.

Structured Cabling System nowadays uses CAT5, CAT5E, 6 for both their voice and data. Data is terminated using RJ45 connector. Voice uses RJ11.

LRE is being deployed in a European country if I am not mistaken its either sweden or Finland... I think its more of Sweden... They have changed their POTS(Plain old Telephone system) with Ethernet switching..... Data is king so everything will all be in packets....

In Sweden you can have 100mbps broadband for $50 a month from an article I read..... Its RJ45 with a voice already thru VOIP..... I just wonder when will it arrive here.... 100Mbps haayyyyyy that would be the day

LRE is already a mature technology and we have already installed some here in Cebu. Its data over voice-grade (telephone) lines.

Tamblot is right! Long-Reach Ethernet runs on voice-grade lines and spans about 1.6kms. this is based only from what i've read from Top-down Network Design by Pricilla Openheimer. i haven't actually experienced first hand regarding this technology.

Tamblot, i'm just curious, where have you deployed LRE here in cebu?

and about this post, is this Metro Ethernet? do we have this kind of service here in cebu? or philippines?

im sorry ridney but i can't give out the names of these companies for confidentiality reason. hope you get what i mean.

Anyway, so as to give a general info, some resorts here in Cebu are using LRE to extend their data?internet to their cottages and buildings.

I believe this is a sort of Metro Ethernet. As for public use/service, still don't have info of it. All i know is the MWLAN.
