eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite v2.5

check out this PSU calculator. and its slightly overestimated compared to real world usage

    also check out this chart
check out the computer system! core 2 duo and 2gb DDR2 RAM

the video card im getting is the HD 2600Pro which has half the processing power of the HD 2600XT

so as people can see its quite safe for 300PSU unless your doing dual SLI and stuff

    im going to upgrade

    1. Video Card to a Palit HD 2600 Pro 256MB x16 PCIE
    2. Hard Drive SATA 160Gb 7200RPM Hitachi
    3. DDR400 2GB 184pin PC3200 (2x1GB sticks)

the thing is what i want to do is WHICH ONE should i upgrade first?

i would like to replace the Hard drive totally, since im going to use the 40gb as an external drive.

soo should i install the Hard drive first? RAM then video card? or
Ram first then video card then hard drive? im quite confused as to how il go about this.

this is my first time upgrading and messing with a desktop. it'l be a miracle if i can upgrade all three parts with no problems. any help would be appreciated.

also im sure about the power management already, 300PSU is just enough to keep the whole system running.
bro we have almost the same setup

    mine is pentium 4 3.2Ghz, LGA 775 (d915gav)

ako ra na upgrade is ang RAM made it to 1Gb, then ang vcard changed it to 8400gs.. so far ok ra ko sa ako upgrade ky im not into gamings jud.. kng mo duwa man gani panagsa lng and kana rapod NFS. also upgrade to 19" LCD widescreen so far wala man complications. im more into surfing lng, download mga movies or music so i think ok ra ni...

so basically bro depende ra jud cguro pod na kng unsa jud ang gamit nmo sa imo pc.

well we will see when i upgrade, hehe il let u guys know, btw there is a video card in the PC before, an old ATI x300, still plays old games quite well hehe. replacing the ATI x300 to HD 2600Pro will probably increase a few watts, since both are dedicated cards and both have cooling fans,

the RAM wont make much of a difference since the 512 ram is using 2x256 sticks, 2x1gb sticks wont increase the power usage.

and the hard drive is 40gb SATA 7200RPM already, upgrading to 160GB 7200rpm wont make much of a difference either.

bro with an 8400gs its possible to do some gaming like me but the HD 2600pro is much better. check out this guys videos

    YouTube - Rifer0's Channel

all in glorious HD 2600Pro video card goodness. hehe,. i was going for an 8400gs, but with nvidia buggy drivers and failing chips im not gona buy an nvidia soon. anyway ive been using ATI ever since and they havent let me down.

thanks bro for your shared experience, makes me much more confident to upgrade now.

bro naka canvas naka sa price anang HD2600Pro? pila man sad? anyway dako na man ng 7k na budget bro. if you'll stretch your budget a little you can get a 780G chipset based cpu naman. try to look at tipid pc ther's a lot of people selling a 690G or 780G chipset mobo with proc at a less than 5k package + 2k for a ddr2 2x1GB of ram is equivalent to 7k, and if your not satisfied with the onboard VC you can upgrade with a dedicated VC of your choice

anyway if your really want to stick with ur old rig i think its a lot more better to upgrade your ram first then second is your video card. but if i were you i better upgrade for a new rig coz it's the most practical and convenient thing, sooner or later you'll get disappointed with your upgrades co'z a lot of good games gonna pop out which will erase your p4 rig in the minimum requirement list.

yeah i got the HD2600pro already, its costing me 1500Php.
    RAM 2gb DDR400 1800Php
    HDD 250GB 7200RPM SATA 2350

so thats about 5650Php for upgrades. ive bought the parts na, and when im gona install them in my computer il install the RAM and Video card together and see if it will work, if it does then il replace the HDD.

thanks for your honest opinion. the P4 might be the bottleneck once i upgrade but this rig will probably be only for 6 months then il upgrade to something else.
