Been a Sci-fi classics fan since high school. My fav authors are Asimov, Clarke, Bradbury, Piers Anthony and Frank Herbert (of Dune fame). I have most of their works.

My college undergrad thesis was on science fiction (AB English, maj. in Lit, 1995). Got a grade of 1.0 for writeup and defense.

Star Trek was actually a good idea when it started out. As the episodes wore on, so did the stories--nahurot na siguro'g ideas ang writers. I guess this is why I can never be considered a real Trekkie--I only like Kirk's classic crew and the stories and encounters they had, and I don't care much for all the Picard and NG/DS9 stuff.

I'm not a solid fan of Addams--his only work I've read was THGTTG, and honestly I find his humour (very British) rather odd. But I did like the story.

I always suggest classic sci-fi kay that's how the genre all started. Find works by Jules Verne, like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, or read (there are several movies about it but the novel is more indepth) "The Time Machine" by H.G. Wells. After this, try Asimov's Foundation series, Etc. For more modern/contemporary sci-fi that's not so space operatic, try the Ender's series by Orson Scott Card.

Awesome, naa na gyud sci fi peeps diri sa istorya. I started a thread a long time ago wa gyuy ni reply. hehe.. Ako, I'm also into the classics, I love Bradbury. I think Fahrenheit 451 akong first sci fi book nabasa. My other favorite authors are Asimov, Philip K. Dick and Frank Herbert. And Lately I've also been getting into cyberpunk with William Gibson' Neuromancer and Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash.

I agree Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game is a great intro to sci fi, it's one of those books that I wish I should have read when I was younger.
