Machine Automation slowly replacing Human Labor

As i was watching Zeitgeist II - Addendum, i came accross this topic regarding machine automation.

If we look back at history, we see a very clear pattern of machine automation slowly replacing human labor. From the disappearance of the Elevator Man to the near-full automation of an automobile production plant, the fact is, as technology grows, the need for humans in the workforce will continually be diminished.

...for human employment is in direct competition with technological development. Therefore, given the fundamental priority of profit by industry, people through time will be continually laid off and replaced by machine.

Kani obvious na man jud ni, dili na ta maglalis ani kay kabalo ko wala man jud mosupak ani nga issue regarding automation in industries.

I'm just wondering... kun moabot ang panahon nga almost fully automated na na tanan, asa na man lang trabaho ang tawo?

In an automated world, only those who don't have the mental capacity to monitor the automation will be deemed unemployed, otherwise their job "roles" will simply shift from doing actual labor, to that of monitoring.

in MEPZ for example, do you think that when full automation comes along, a certain company will need 1,000 people to monitor machines?

for sure, kanang assembly line sa mepz, kung tawo ang gamiton it will produce let's say 100 units in one hour.
when fully automated, a single machine alone can overtake the production rate of 200 workers.

and by the way, how many "mentally capacitated" employees are there in a certain company compared to the operators who do the actual assembly? i did not mean that the operators are not mentally capacitated but they are they ones who will be laid off.

I believe I'm still within the point being talked about--I didn't say that it will NOT affect people, it will indeed affect those without the qualifications for monitoring.

By the tone of your remarks you seem to be against automation, so that other people will retain their jobs. Ok then...let's sacrifice progress, and let's not have better and more efficient economy, just for the benefit of these people so that they can still can have jobs.

How sure are you that there will be 1000 qualified people in the first place? What if (remember, "what if") the automation technology is so new and advanced it requires a totally new breed of individual to operate it, and that each time there is an examination for this job/position, only 1 in 1000 can pass it?

No, there will be jobs, there will be work. It's just not the jobs that young people are oh so happy to enjoy now (taas ang sweldo pero the amount of physical exertion is not comparable to something like farming). It's high time the young people of the Philippines feel how it was like years ago, when our grandfathers used to sweat and toil in the more manual way, to earn something. Karon, mao dali ra kaayo mag gimmick-gimmick, kay igo lang mag call center, relatively okay naman ang income--basically, my analysis is, the young Filipinos of today have gone soft--they want a high paying job yet not so demanding right away...instant kwarta ba. Long gone are the days when true hard work was of value to the young Filipino. I know, daghan mag kontra sa ako after I say this, but I truly want to see automation happen, because I want to see how the Filipino youth's habits and traits will change, once they realize their "nice and comfy jobs" will start to fade away...maybe only then, will this pathetic country truly change.
