What's the point of controlling population when it is NOT the problem? People are always being MISinformed into thinking that we are overpopulated.

Why not instead focus on the real causes of poverty such as massive corruption (we are one of the worst), indiscriminate debt servicing, and extremely bad governance? Addressing these will do much more to solve our problems than wasting time on population control.

@manny, those problems you've mentioned especially corruption is the main problem in the philippines but this BILL will help in curbing the rise in population. and talking about misinformed... the goverment should INFORM the public with the advantages of this BILL.

for me, being "responsible" can solve overpopulation, and not this bill...

take for instance those families with something, they tend to have fewer children..

guys,

i have an employee, a very active R. Catholic, who's been campaigning against this bill, in fact they have this signature campaign going on, he asked me if i want to join and sign... so, i asked him his reasons why he's against it, he then told me "ingon man gud sa simbahan, gapromote kuno ni same *** marriage"... knowing that it isn't true, i then asked if he happen to read the full text of the bill, as expected his answer is "NO"... so i printed the full text and gave it to him... he was shocked... hehehehe... wicked misinformation...

honestly, as an active R. Catholic believer myself (an ex-seminarian), i'm a pro-life but we really need to control our pop-growth... whether with this bill or not, we need to have it controlled... "same *** marriage in the Philippines not in a million years"... hehehehhehe....

Hello. Just want to share my 5 cents worth on this thread. I work in an organization that deals about reproductive health and maternal and child health. The reproductive health bill is not anti-life nor is it pro-abortion. It is a bill that aims to promote an understanding of the reproductive health rights of each individual. It is also not a bill that promotes ***. On the contrary, if there is proper information shared to everyone on reproductive health, the more people will not go into *** because they will understand that having *** will lead to pregnancy and if not ready, abortion. For instance, did you know that based on a study conducted here in the Philippines, even college graduates do not know how to properly use the contraceptive pill and other forms of modern contraception? We have met and interviewed a lot of women from all walks of life who have this bogus notion of modern contraceptives such as ang pills if you take it dili mahilis and mahabilin ra inside the stomach thus causing cancer, ang vasectomy makabayot and ang ligation maka-manyak. Now you can all laugh all you want but this is a reality ladies and gentlemen. Before I got into this job i thought i knew what contraceptives were. I mean who doesn't at this day and age? But the statistics and reality will shock you. The reproductive health bill will also empower the women to make decisions on her own health. How many times have you seen couples with 5 or 6 children who are roaming all over the streets and when you ask them "ngano daghan man kaayo mo ug anak nang?" they would say "gusto man gud akong bana ug lalaki nga anak or babae nya wa pa man. last na lang kung naa na mi babae or lalaki". A woman is not a baby making machine and should not be forced into circumstances like this. If the reproductive health bill is not passed, I hope some mechanism can be worked out to disseminate the correct information on health to those who need it. Bottom line is, whatever you decide, its your choice. No one has the right to decide for you. Pwede man ka magka anak ug isa ka dosena as long as you make sure you are healthy every time you get pregnant and you can afford to give your children a decent life but I still stress that proper information be given to those who need it and if they want pills, condoms, vasectomy or ligation - they know where to get it.

Tumpak brod! uyon ko nimo 110%....hilabtanon man sad kaayo ning Katoliko (and its branches) puro na lang supak may unta ug nagbayad ug tax. Parehaon unta tingali ta sa US nga kun ang inyo group usa ka religious org (means exempted sa tax) but if kun mag-apil2x ka sa decision sa gobyerno then automatically walaon ang previlege na tax exemption. Ana na lang kaha para wala nay pari nga mag-saba2x kay gatuyo ug makuhaan ang limos.

As per the news, some religious organizations are supporting the Reproductive Health bill. This would mean the Catholic Church might be alone in its stand that it is against the teachings of the scriptures to adhere to modern family planning. After all, other organizations have a different view in it.

Let the government do what it can do to resolve the concern on over population. Such is through legislation. If, on the other hand, some organization would think it is not morally correct, they can reprimand their members to do so. I think that would be just and proper, considering the circumstances.
