US economy going down? Will it recover? - THE US Financial Crisis.

i didn't mean to say that the US economy is going on an uphill climb. just because i said the economy is healthier than it was a few months back doesn't mean it's not in a steady downturn. as to the question if it is indeed going down? yes it is. but if we talk about the economy totally collapsing, that is far-fetched.

We don't know bai - it may look like it's getting better right now pero ako, I'm still skeptical about it. I am not a pessimist pero I don't like what I'm looking at from my point of view. A total collapse? I HOPE NOT - pero we've already seen signs of things going really bad. Kadungog ka atung INDY MAC a month ago or so? That was really bad... people taking out their money hoping na makuha nila tanan. People who have over 200K in that bank losing 50% of it on their balance sheets.

And then karon - Airlines and other commercial banks are asking for a BAILOUTS.

The US Econmy might be down nowadays, but its not going down the drain for good. I see the housing problems bottoming out in the late 2008 or 1st quarter of 2009, and gradual recovery will start on the late 2009. Despite some economic indicators showing some signs of recovery (GDP, Manufacturing Index), encominc downtrum i think will continue to the 1st quarter of 2009.

We all agree here that the world's economy needs the US. In fact 40% of the worlds GDP alone is produced and consumed by the US consumers. If US economy is doomed to fail as what some posters are saying here..then the rest of the world will go down with it.

IAN: I sure hope you're right - and I hope the new President does a better job than the one we have right now.

I'm also betting on the economy recovering late 2009 (I hope so) - but for now, I'm staying with the bear market.

id like to apologize if the questions posted on the thread is a little bit broad. i think wat i meant is... the pattern of the economy is leaning towards downhill. but di pod down na "doomsday" na for US economy.

i really do appreciate info shared both by Vince and Ezra. however, i seemed to agree more of wat Ezra said. I dont know much of the recent stats now but i can just compare what was it like 5 years ago. to think d pa gani ni super way back from the present. siguro kamo basi dugay na sa america ug makakita gyud mo sa difference since sa time pa ni Clinton. life is relatively a bit easier and layo ug daganan ang value sa dollar.

Ezra: My initial reply on this topic was based on my interpretation that the author's term "going down" implied "total collapse".. Hence, my "no way" response. I stand by what I said. Having said that, I must agree with you that there may indeed be more financial trouble on the horizon; however, there are no indicators of impending doom in the economy. As to the question of recovery...? Definitely. Do you disagree? You can't declare a winner in the 4th round of a ten round fight based on how it appears to be going at that particular time, can you? P.S. - When someone is knocking on your front door, how can tell, without looking, that it's a drummer outside? Answer: the knocking speeds up.

As far as a total collapse of the economy, I don't think it's gonna go to that extent - I hope not. Hopefully the upcoming administration will do better than what the present administration had done so far. Hopefully they'll get rid of people like Hank Paulson and Ben Bernanke.

In terms of recoving from this current economic status - it will happen eventually. Remember the Dot Com bubble during the turn of the century? We recovered from that - all thanks to Greenspan. The US market follows a trend, a pattern ... we've experienced bubbles over and over. Of course, we will recover... the question is when.

By the way: My time-keeping is rock solid.

I guess the only thing thats gonna make me moved to another country, if the Value of US Dollar against the PESO is 1=1.

OT: I still wouldn't move ... what's the unemployment rate sa pinas karon? Thing is, The US at recession levels will never be as bad sa Pinas karon. As far as moving to other countries? Well, Canada's not doing good either... and sa Europe, wala man ko'y experience didto but as what others have said, mahal gyud kuno sab ngadto.

Hahaha.i have to agree as well..kung gusto gyud ka ug hayahay nga kinabuhi Pinas gyud..Mao pud btaw na main reason daghan pobre sa Pinas kay mga tapulan..Pahayahay perme daghan hinuon walay kwarta. Antos lang sa ta bai...madala ra btaw..pohon ig retire natoh..manimalos tah..hehehehe.
