    The reason is "ignorance".
In the bigger picture, it is always easier to do the right thing.
Sala or sin is called sin because it has its own destructive consequence.

    For example.
Mangawat ka. (Stealing, theft, robbery, snatching, shoplifting etc.)
    Some people do not work
    instead they steal
because they find it easier to steal than to work.

When you work, you have to work hard for a long time
just to accumulate a certain amount.
    But, when you steal,
you just steal something expensive or valuable
and you already have that amount.

You think this way because you do not realize
that the thing you are stealing is a product of hard work.

It is easier to steal it than to work for it.
Mao nay mentality sa uban sa atong mga politicians and government workers and government officials karon.

But, sin has its consequence- the punishment.
You only find sin easier if you are ignorant of its consequence.

    Another example,
    Manchicks ka.
    Bisan minyo na ka.

This is because you are ignorant of the consequence.

    The reality of sin is:
    Sin is always expensive.
You always pay the amount which is more than what you are willing to pay.

    Kung man-chicks ka.
    Imo siyang i-date syempre.
    Mogasto ka diba?

    Kung wala pa ka manchicks,
di na gamit unta to sa imong pamilya to nga kwartaha.

And then, kulang pa jud dayon ang usa ra ka chicks, mangita na sad kag lain.
Lain na sad nga gasto di ba?

    So in the end,
you realize nga dili diay ka kaafford man-chicks.
    Pero hurot na imong kwarta.

This is because you are ignorant of the consequence of sin.
That is why at first, you think it is easier to sin.
The reality there is, it is always harder to sin than doing otherwise.

galvanite or tailor's chalk are minerals of calcium and used as cheaper substitute to zinc metal.

hmmm... I honestly don't know, but I've once used tailor's chalk in my Home Economics class in my grade school.

    Hardly a compliment.
me thinks that you should take it as a compliment because HellBlazer was referring to the original alchemist who wishes to transform his gross into something pure. Something like, self-discovery and self transformation.

Alchemists were actually finding ways to turn things into gold.
That is why I think they were materialistic people.
In the process, they discovered by accident other substances.

    But hey,
if Hellblazer give it as compliment,
I have to thank him for it.
