I haven't seen this movie, and probably have no plans on watching it, but the funny (and annoying) thing about it is, I know what it's all about--why? Because over half of the people I know who approached me, and who asked me to teach them how to get started in amateur astronomy, is because they saw this movie (and naturally I would ask them what the movie is all about, and get disappointed that it's a love story, rather than a science one). *shakes head* It saddens me that people only want to see a comet or see what Saturn looks like because Mandy Moore's character did it in the movie--murag shallow ra kaayo ang reason why they want to pursue amateur astronomy as a hobby. Apologies to the fans of this movie, for this little rant.

^look at it this way, rod. scientists couldnt get many people interested in astronomy, but this movie did and still does. who's more effective now? =)

i love the movie. now there's this korean movie i saw last night and it was clearly a version of A Walk to Remember. the title is A Millionaire's First Love. my friend cried over it, but I was annoyed to the max. Grrrr. korean movies = pa cute cute effect. ambot.

That's exactly what annoys me. Scientists do have trouble getting people interested in science, because they are not entertainers. Entertainers on the other hand (actors and actresses and writers) have trouble talking to people about science because they are not scientists.
