One thing I do know--if by some miracle, Pinoys would suddenly increase in intelligence by 50% or more, right now, then starting tomorrow, certain markets/industries/businesses in the Philippines will lose profit, because there are companies out there who rake in a LOT of money because of the very fact that most people (not only Filipinos) are stupid.

Well, let's think that scenario over for a second. If Pinoys do in fact wisen up and demand more pay or other such and such, a lot of the major players in the Philippine economy can just uproot themselves and leave, leaving the thousands of unemployed to be either under employed or go abroad and look for greener pastures. The point being, they should be smart enough to realize the consequences of their actions as well. Big companies know how to play hardball and they have all the resources they need to uproot and say "bye bye" to the thousands who would be stupid enough to grow a brain and protest.

LOL I wasn't even talking about them asking for more pay etc etc. I'm talking about the average pinoy who tends to be an impulsive buyer, because of the effective advertising campaigns on TV (because Pinoys are hopelessly addicted to TV). They buy things they WANT, not the things they NEED. To me, this is stupidity. Now, imagine Pinoys starting to buy things they NEED, and not necessarily going for the more expensive brands, but those that are more cheap and practical, and/or stop buying something just because it's "uso" or "This is what blah blah blah on TV wears!" ...I predict that some brands will slowly lose previously profitable strategies.

gotcha! I thought you were gearing towards another line of thinking. Uhm, should that day happen, mahimo tag China. Where every Tom, Dick and Harry will flock the low-end shops. instead of malls, we will have side streets filled with cheap merchandise. Instead of cinemas with Dolby Surround Sound, people would rather suffer through 2 or 3 channel speakers and a 2nd hand LCD TV. The point is, all that is cheap and worth buying muy mahalin, dili mga brand new ug super mahalun. heheeh, also, mga 3310 muy kusog ug halin and become the standard phone.

there is no such thing as DEMAND more pay.. you work for what you deserve...
LAzy pinoys have no right to demand more pay in trying times like these unless they deserve to..
though what you should do is get what you both agreed on in the first place.. but more?
    ngek...

Exactly! However, what one "deserves" can also be sometimes confused with what one "needs". In these trying times, more people should be looking to alternative means of income just to cushion the blow. But with Oil per Barrel prices going down, coincidentally along with prices of commodities, I think the blow should not be as hard as we expect....for the foreseeable future.=D

Didn't anyone see a glaring point in my two posts?

Even though they are not trumpeting about it, some (maybe even most) business companies and corporations in the Philippines that depends on massive amounts of consumers, prefer (and are happy, imagine that) that their buyers remain stupid, otherwise, they will lose profit.

So, maybe the reason why Filipinos are stupid is because they're putting something in our drinking water and pumping stuff in our air, so that we'll all stay stupid, so that the big corporations can continue to rake in big profits, because of the massive blindly buying consumers. I'm kidding--It's actually an old sci-fi story I (yet again) began writing, but didn't get to finish, back in college.

For personalmgt: I read an article in Time Magazine last year regarding the spread of the English language throughout the world. More people in Asia speak English than in the combined countries of the USA, England and Canada. More than 80% of the info accessible by your computer is in English, as are virtually all Medical research, Legal and Technical research documents. Woefully misinformed and drastically short-sighted are any group of people (incl. Pinoys) who think for a moment that they do not "need to speak English to be smart". It's not about giving up one's native tongue or proclaiming one language to be superior to another. It's about Pinoys being able to access the World's knowledge bank, whose currency is English. If you defend the position that learning English is not a requirement of being smart, I guess one would have ask you to explain your definition of "smart"...

well sa imong statement, it wud take a "discipline" para mahimo ani.

but kasagaran sa mga pinoy, walay DISIPLINA. hehehe.

mao na kasagaran sa pinoy, pobre ug dili igo^ ang kaaladman nga sarang makapanrabaho sila.

It is not an issue of Pinoys getting dumb, rather of Pinoys getting lazier and lazier. Ang mga estudyante imbes mag study, mag sige ra ug duwa ug counterstrike.
