I'm not speaking in behalf of CNR. And I am not his brother. He is my childhood friend. I am using his case as a perfect example of what I mean by people who still have the guts to try out something other than what is "comfy" out there, and I'd bet he'd stand by every word I said, because we share the same views. And I am not trying to say that I'm better than call center agents--I myself could've been in that industry myself, being an AB English graduate, and in many ways, I can say that you even have better IT skills than I have, because I have zero formal training in that field, I'm mostly self-taught. But that's exactly the point of my original post--I'm trying to wake up the "sleeping talent" in people who indeed possess these skills--I wish people would dare to be different. I chose the road less travelled, because I want to--not because I have to. Big difference there.
The reason I quoted your "blah blah" because by saying that in rather sarcastic terms, you seem to be putting little credit for people who have the capacity to be fluent and efficiently express what they really want, when in fact, people who really intend to success know for a fact that it is a key and prime element, because communication is important in any endeavor, big or small. If you found that quote offensive then apologies.
Basically, I have a longing that perhaps, just perhaps, people with the skills and talent to really stand out and emerge in an industry that doesn't make "sheep" out of its workers. Perhaps, this could be the key to long and medium term economic growth in our country, because there'd be less people who'd be easily cowed into getting into a firm just because the job given to them is "comfy" and they get paid well.

^ well.. there's nothing we can do much about it.. cuz that's just the way it is...none of our views can actually change things... people are forced to look for a job which has better pay other than their course / skill / fave job... since our country's eco is going down the drain.. not all people can ba as lucky as you guys who are working in a huge firm. people can be IT in other companies.. but not as much as you guys do..
all i can say is that.. i love my job.. who get's paid to:
- sit
- talk and fix customer's computer issues and learn from it as well.
- take 15mins break
- 1 60 mins lunch
- sometimes aux 5 (meeting)
- surf the web!
- disco on the floor
- chick hunting on the floor
- lot's of free fooD and freebies!.
- Quarterly bonus of atleast 10k
- chill.. no pressure.
and my favorite part Team GA (outing woooh!)
I agree on most of your points, except for one thing--I refuse to believe that people cannot do anything about it. And it's our common friend who's working for that huge firm, not me--we have our own small startup company (just 2 full-time employees and 4 part-time employees for now), and being a startup, we'd be crazy and wasting money if our small firm was being "realistically pessimistic" about the country's economic conditions--our small company is being very optimistic, mao nga even though we are a startup, in just a year's time, nabawi na namo among overhead and expenses to put up business here in Cebu, because of our optimism. Optimism is key--it leads to greater rewards in the future.

the point here is no matter what, SALARY is still the bottom line..
3rd world counrty ta.. ang mga studyante nga na belong dri nga country halos tanan... dli tanan ha...
mag skwela aron mka trabaho... makat-on gamay den trabaho...
some countries in the 1st world, students will go to school to know and to learn, that's because wla cla galisod sa pag kaon..
ikaw skwela gni ka sa mahal kay you're expecting nga mka trabaho ka with a high paying salary..
suuuuuuuuuusssssssssss....
"anybody can do whatever he wants as he pleases" ... that's true...
but the fact of the matter is: a P20k monthly take home pay, given the current state of our economy, is only good for a "single" lifestyle. that would be more than enough if one still lives at home courtesy of his family ehhheemmm... "free board and lodging". until when are we gonna do that?
but that's not the case for those who want to get married, have kids, buy a house...
how much is the tuition fee for one kid per year in a good school? how much is the minimum fare today? round-trip? multiply that by 4 and multiply that by 22 days (per month). how much is the monthly rental for a decent two bedroom apartment? what's the average daily food cost for a family of four? .... monthly bills, phone, electricity, cable and the list goes on and on...
so what then would you tell your kid when you can no longer afford to send him to school:
"sorry son, there's nothing we can do much about it.. cuz that's just the way it is"...
so let me ask this question again: so what's your master plan
good choice... and it's ok if other people detest how i / we want to live our lives...
in general psychology: 3rd party persons always tend to judge the person more than how the person sees himself..
whether i die or live... be merry or sad being here in the callcenter industry... atleast i can say that im living my life according to how i love it and not how people judge it to be.
send my regards to jib
@clad.. you have a point bro..dont worry i have my family to keep me reminded..![]()
